TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! BUDGET OFFICER SCOTT HUIZENGA SEYZ ADIÓS TO KANSAS CITY AMID CORONAVIRUS CRISIS AND TAKES NEW JOB IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS!!!

There's a mass exodus underway at City Hall amid talk of furloughs, salary cuts and tougher working conditions.

Moreover, the Kansas City budget is now facing a historic challenge to cope with a loss of revenue and new priorities demanded of 12th & Oak.

In the midst of this crisis, Budget Officer Scott Huizenga recently bailed to take a better job in Texas.

To wit . . .

INSIDERS WORRY THAT THE BUDGET DUDE MOVING ON IS A BAD SIGN FOR THE FUTURE OF KANSAS CITY FINANCES AMID COVID-19 MONEY TROUBLES!!!

Local MSM claims the "worst case scenario" involves $300-MILLION worth of budget cuts but more skeptical souls already see impending bankruptcy on the horizon.

Accordingly, here's part of what BRILLIANT INSIDERS have to say . . .

"Some people might claim, 'the budget is done. No big deal.' But they obviously don't understand that our KCMO budget is a living and breathing document that needs constant adjustment and fixes. Now, we're looking at a surplus that could be wiped out in a matter of weeks and we've got an interim city manager who doesn't seem up to the task of hiring anybody or taking on the more strenuous aspects of his job."

Money line . . .

"The hand that authored our Kansas City budget is now waving goodbye."

Admittedly, the City Hall brain drain has been exceptionally tough during 2020 and this latest departure puts more pressure on the Interim City Manager Earnest Rouse.

Recent departures from Public Works, The City Manager's Office and the legal department offer a glimpse at the upheaval behind the scenes. Heck, the new budget even nixed the Office of Culture and Creative Services following the "Open Spaces" flop.

And so . . .

The devastating impact of coronavirus and so many longtime workers jumping ship leaves Kansas City without much experience to navigate the "new normal" and impending financial storm. Meanwhile, proposed cutbacks will likely only worsen the situation. Conservative pundits might celebrate the devastation and cheer smaller government but most longtime residents realize the consequences of fewer City Hall workers mean less services for neighborhoods at a time when help from 12th & Oak is needed most.

    1. Actually, scott was a very smart person and not a rat at all. I wish him good luck in his new job. He's going to need it. Every budget office around the nation must be looking at similar circumstances.

  2. New council doing nothing but chasing all the people who really know how KC works away. Impossible to do your job there. Almost any place else is better.

  3. New City manager will be the worst we've seen in years and you'll see even more city hall departures afterward.

  7. The article mentions a cut in City services; what City services are they referring to ? Trash everywhere, potholes, record homicides.

  8. This leaves Kathryn shields in charge of running the bank, that’s like the worst possible thing that could evar happen, after all the other bad shit that’s already happened.

You know what they say when you hit rock bottom, there’s no place to go but up right? WRONG!!! YOU KC WILL GO SIDEWAYS! HAHAHAHAHA!

  9. No problem. They already have a super genius working in city hall. They should just put Dr. Rex Archer in charge of city finances too. He can force us all to stay healthy as he balances the budget. A double win for all of us and quite an impressive trick.

  11. Ol' Sly really knew how to pick them. But Huizenga will sleep better and make more money now that he can put his D- performance behind him.

  12. First, not everything is "the end of the world" but that's tabloid, Yellow Journalism for you and that's certainly what we have going on here.

Second, there's no reason in the world another responsible, capable budget officer.

Adios, Mr. Huizenga! Good luck to you and your family in all!

    1. Hey Mo Rage, what "journalism" do you provide. All your posts are just anti trump garbage you stole from other people. Do your own thinking and or make some original commentary to add to it. You seem like a classic liberal complainer. Very weak. Sad.

    2. Scott left his family for a woman that worked for him. So adios Mr. Huizenga. Please take Debbie with you.

  16. He’s going to San Antonio? Excellent choice, that’s one of the best cities in the world to go to! He’ll be in hog heaven down there. I just hope he can adjust to what a city is supposed to be like after being in this shithole city.

  17. Horrible!
    10-10-10 killed businesses.
Many looking to quit or move.
Class action coming to recover 1% Earnings Tax since so many not working in KC as they work from home.

Write Trump and ask him to NOT SEND KC A PENNY!

DEMOCRATS HATE TRUMP AMD DONT DESERVE A NICKLE OF FED STIMULUS!

I am Joe Biden and I forgot this message!

  18. Frankly, now would be a good time to jump ship.

  19. Quinton Lucas still thinks it is a "blip"; and there wont be anyone left to tell him otherwise. And yes Kathryn Shields is the sole voice preaching austerity in the era of a pandemic. Flattening the curve applies to budgets also. Waiting for bad news on revenues is a day late and tens of millions of dollars short.

  20. Bumbling Biden Virtual Round Table

"85,000 jobs have been lost in the US and millions of Americans have died' since pandemic began... apparently."

  21. Scott sold us out.

    Then again, so did Sly.

    And so did Quinton.

    And so it goes.

  22. Now if we could get that worthless lying piece of crap gopher boi to leave.....

  23. It is a ship without a rudder. The boy king thinks he's the boss but long time city staff know they work for the manager, not the mayor (READ THE CHARTER). Interim's rarely carry the weight of a full time position and this interim city mgr had little interest in the job and choose to let the boy king run the show. Very little effort to fill the position and chart a course. The exodus of those who CAN leave has just begun. After years of pay freezes, promotional freezes, layoffs that only add to the work of those who remain for NO RAISE will further erode morale and performance for those who can't leave.
