SHOCK!!! SUMMER SEASON TICKET CORONAVIRUS REFUNDS THREATEN TO BANKRUPT KANSAS CITY VENUES!!!
MSM claim coronavirus has killed nearly 100K people in this country and it's clear that Americans have grown too weary to effectively practice preventative measures any longer.
Still . . . Local government has control of entertainment venues and large gatherings remain discouraged throughout the foreseeable future.
Accordingly . . .
MANY KANSAS CITY EVENT SPACES CAN'T SUFFER THE LOSSES OF HALF EMPTY CROWDS DUE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES!!! EVEN WORSE: REFUNDING AN ENTIRE SUMMER OF CONCERTS AND SHOWS WILL BANKRUPT VENUES!!!
Brief aside . . .
Kansas City theater-goers know that Starlight has a longstanding bat problem . . . Similarly, a Chinese scientist nicknamed "the batwoman" warns that COVID-19 is just the tip of the iceberg and similar infections crossing over from animal to human are imminent without further research.
But I digress . . .
Dozens of KC concerts have already been canceled this Summer and the post-memorial day plethora of local events seems to be in a holding pattern with one party after the next slowly announcing shut down.
There are too many examples to bother naming but many Gen-Xers recently lamented Barenaked Ladies announcement that they have been forced to postpone their 2020 Last Summer On Earth tour of North America until 2021.
The point here is that coronavirus has created a NO-WIN situation for local concert & theater venues and without more financial assistance, many of these places will never open again.
