Shawnee mayor breaks tie vote to approve 25% pay increase for city manager

The Shawnee governing body on Monday voted 5-4 to approve a 25% pay increase for city manager Nolan Sunderman, with Mayor Michelle Distler casting the tie-breaking vote. Sunderman's base pay had been $148,000, which was significantly lower than the top administrators of large neighboring Johnson County cities. His new base pay is $185,000.

Did they solve all of their other problems, like what they're going to use for revenue to pay salaries?

    Unbelievably crass.

  2. What other problems do they have, retard? Why don’t you help them fix their problems, retard? You seem to fix your own problems so we’ll, right, retard?

  5. Jealous geezers who have never done anything in their failed lives worrying about what someone else makes. How typical and pathetic. You bitches will cry about everything. Look, nobody values you, and you provide no value to anyone else. That's why none of you have ever gotten anything close to that kind of money. Deal with it.

  8. Like any other civic employee, he breezes into the office sometime in the morning, does his city-manager paperwork-pushing things, and then glides right out. Direct deposit of his $185,000 takes care of the rest

  9. ^^So? You jealous loser? Maybe if you hadn't wasted your life worrying about others, you MIGHT have mattered. You didn't and you don't.

  10. Taxpayers get the middle finger in Shawnee. I bet the good City Manager also gets an additional $25,000 a year contributed to his pension plan by taxpayers,

  13. Not jealous at all about this guys pay - I make all I need to enjoy life and support my family. However, it does seem like for the job, urban/suburban city managers as a whole are quite over-payed - taxpayer is the loser.

  14. ^^Quit worrying about what other people make!@8:36. It's gauche, and pathetic. Mind your own business. Pay your own bills, and work harder. You have no idea, I mean zero idea about what the markets can bear and what certain positions are worth on the open market so shut it!

    1. Mind your own business? Why dont you take your own advice. For taxpayers, you know, people who own stuff and shit, thats taxed so this jackass can have a job funded by people like me. His salary is my business. Do us a favor and STFU. Please and thank you.
