Newsflash: Kansas City Segregation Persists And Tacitly Endorsed Political Ruling Class

Just a bit of an old school review . . . We don't dispute the facts of this report, it's just they're not new.

What's more exciting is the debate over gentrification and how a great many ethnic groups and people of color fear middle-class white hipsters moving into their neighborhood. Moreover, politicos often work to protect these fiefdoms and have consistently provided a reliable base of support.

For now, here's another glimpse at the past . . .

Is KC divided into different racial groups? curiousKC investigates.

Kansas City has a storied history of racism and segregation, one that's been documented well by local historians such as Sherry Schirmer, who wrote a book on the perception of race in the metro and its impact on development.

  1. Yes, real estate everywhere USA is inherently racist. Ever see any Black agents listing multimillion dollar properties? A rarity. Ever see White affluent White people living in the hood? Also, a rarity. Mexicans are the only ones who will live anywhere but they don’t think their Mexican, brown or racially disadvantaged and wrongly, falsely categorize themselves as White people... until they’re treated like their not White.

  3. 1:00: And yet most people--even the undocumented--know the difference between "their" and "they're." Weird.

  4. Segregation is a natural order in all species. Desegregation was a progressive construct designed to break up strong community bonds. Given their druthers, people associate with their "own kind", move to places where their own kind are. Yes, there are always outliers, but they are far away the exception not the rule.

  6. 1:59: And yet you're full of shit. Weird. Read any history of Rome or any major city in the US and you'll find rampant integration until shortly after Plessy v. Ferguson (1896).

  7. “All of these policies, all of these stories and all of these incentives were meant for white people. Not for communities of color.”

white people over the history of housing: are you talking about WASPs, Jews, Italians, Irish, catholics....... all considered scumbags in the evolution of housing.

What years did KCCC admit a catholic or a jew or an italian? Altho the article mentions italians, saying ethnicities determined Neighborhood evolution, or 'housing policy', would be more accurate.

The evolution of housing was a cluster fuck of downtrodden immigrants and black migration from the South. Some had more marketable skills than others to help them along.

fetishizing black/white in a historical analysis is not accurate and not helpful.

  8. Ethnicity not race. it is not Asian Town, it is China Town, and y'all know if you call a chinese or korean person japanese or vice versa, it isn't going to go over well.

American black folks had their ethnicities erased.

  9. Dogtown in St Louis, would an accurate historical analysis say 'privileged white people'?

  11. From the article:

“You can still see the areas that have racial covenants today,” Enriquez said. “Mission Hills, you have areas in Johnson County and Prairie Village. Yeah, they’re the nicer parts of town but that’s for a reason and that’s because they were protected by these racial covenants.”

"There nicer parts of town but that's ... because they were protected by ...racial covenants."

    -Nice

  12. you can not do a historical analysis and create inflammatory inaccurate superficial narratives that practically encourage racial tension b/c it is trendy thing to do these days.

  13. 3:46 some folks have had enough whining about superficial narratives pf redlining so you can continue to be a whining jackass.

  14. you want to erase or discount the struggles of many 'white' people's ancestors, great grand parents, grandparents, and parents to lift themselves out of poverty, then why should they give a shit about black struggles.

  15. my mennonite ancestors must have been oozing white privilege when they migrated.

Diversity is shit. Nobody wants it. All races segregate themselves into their own respective communities. Creating friction between races is job one for leftist Jews like (((Sherry Schirmer))). Blacks turn every square mile that they inhabit into shitholes of crime and blight. Sure, the Mexicans live 30 to a house and paint their homes purple and orange and canary yellow and God knows what else, but if there were no Mexicans here, then Tony wouldn't be here and that thought is just too depressing.

Racism is bad. Racial covenants are bad. But the reason for their existence needs examined honestly. Their core belief is that African-American arrival would result in bastardy, welfare, and crime. Of course, this belief is unfounded and untrue.... n'est-ce pas? Heh. Go Chiefs!
