MISSOURI SENATOR HAWLEY ATTACKS TWITTER IN DEFENSE OF PREZ TRUMP FREE SPEECH!!! HOWEVER, CRACKDOWN COULD ALSO KILL TKC COMMENTS!!!

Missouri's most strident supporter of Prez Trump is pushing back against big tech and shaking his fist at Silicon Valley in a manner that has implications throughout the Internets.

However . . .

LOOK CLOSELY!!! MISSOURI SENATOR HAWLEY'S PROPOSED CRACKDOWN COULD ALSO LIMIT COMMENTS ON TKC AND FORUMS ACROSS THE INTERNETS FROM EVERY POLITICAL SPECTRUM!!!

The first hint of the legislation is sloppy and what he really opposes is the monopoly that Twitter has over the political conversation . . . This is easily solved with MORE FREEDOM FOR INTERNETS PUBLISHERS, PLATFORMS AND PROVIDERS, NOT LESS.

Still, the GOP launching a very big government crackdown on Internets discourse offer just a hint that both sides of the aisle aren't as different as partisan hacks might believe . . .

Nevertheless . . .

Most of this is simply political posturing with no real policy aim and simply a top level show of support for the brash style of the Prez Trump has once again captivated the entire nation.

Take a look:

Show-Me Senator Hawley Sending Message To Big Tech

Hawley on Twitter fact-checking Trump: 'Big Tech' is subsidized by taxpayers and censors Americans

'Big Tech' is subsidized by taxpayers and censors conservative speech, Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley said Wednesday. In an interview on "Fox & Friends" with hosts Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade, Hawley said that Americans deserve answers from these companies.

Republicans working on legislation to strip Twitter of federal liability protections

Sen. (R-Mo.) and Rep. (R-Fla.) on Wednesday separately announced they were both working on legislation to strip Twitter of federal protections that ensure the company is not held liable for what is posted on its platform.

GOP Sen. Josh Hawley asks Twitter if fact checks are meant to target Trump for 'political reasons'

A Republican senator asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Wednesday whether the social media giant's decision to fact-check President Donald Trump's tweets on mail-in voting was politically motivated. The move by the president's favorite social media platform to slap warning labels on his tweets "raises serious questions about whether Twitter targeted the President for political reasons," Sen.

Accordingly . . .

This move doesn't really scare TKC because we can always turn comments off and find new and exciting ways to chat with denizens of the discourse. However, we're more anxious to see if our Conservative readers want to crack down on Twitter and thereby limit many online platforms in the process . . .

You decide . . .

  1. I remember when we used to have a newspaper that reported on Missouri politics other than leftist protests. That was nice.

      Very true.

      The Star hates covering Hawley.

  2. Hawley just wanted more Fox news airtime. He got it and nothing is going to change. If anything that label helped push Trump's message even more.

  3. Stripping 302 protection would be because twitter made itself the editor and publisher of information posted on its platform rather than a neutral platform, not just for allowing comments. Blog comments would seem to be a different matter. Ironically, this is one of the few platforms left were people are free to post without fear of aggressive 'moderation' of comments.

  4. TKC comments are not rated as fact or fiction. So NO concern. I don't think TKC is a wing of KC democrat party.

  7. Dear God, can Somebody in Josh Hawley's hometown of Washington give this embarrassing lickspittle a job?

Anything, make him the Third Assistant Secretary for National Parks Vault Toilet Approval at the Department of the Interior, or something! ANYTHING!

Maybe then we can get a Senator who would pay a little bit of attention to the welfare and problems of this State, which is what the job entails. Of course, Josh never paid any attention to the Job of State Attorney General, and hasn't paid any attention to the job of Senator, but at least his meanderings and incompetence would be less harmful to us if he could achieve his goal of landing a DC Job, and brighten his days no end knowing he'd never have to set foot in this State again.

Even a "Haircut with Shoes" like Blunt seems almost human compared to Hawley, and does on rare occasions manage to do some good for us.

Are fact checks meant to target Der Fuhrer for political reasons?

NO, they're meant to point out that he's lying.

Having a different opinion is not the same thing as lying
But you leftists believe anyone who thinks differently than you do are simply liars. That’s a childish characteristic

That would certainly make a liberals head explode!

  16. Mail in voting is just asking for trouble, some state just lost a million mail in votes in the last week or so.

I don’t care who’s idea it was, it’s a big problem. I’m not sure I can handle another four years of liberal tears and 14 more impeachment attempts from the dimwits!

  23. No one censored the president*'s right to free speech on Twitter (though, to be clear, by their own terms of usage Twitter should have knocked him off the platform years ago), they merely noted that users could find truthful information about what the president twatted at a different link.

    Snowflakes.

  24. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg criticizes Twitter for fact-checking President Trump but CEO Jack Dorsey says it won't stop 'pointing out incorrect or disputed information'

LOL see the whole fake facade around Google, Facebook, and Twitter is finally starting to crumble exposing them for what they really are. Shutting these three down would be the best thing that ever happened.

  27. Cripes, Trump puts out some fucking Bullshit, get's fact checked and all you Trumptards are in a fucking tizzy. Don't worry assholes, you still got facebook to post unfettered bullshit to. Go there dickheads. Or better yet Trumptards, create your own "twitter" where you can wallow in bullshit conspiracies.

Fucking Trump is still tweeting that Joe Scarborough should be investigated for murder. Even after the dead ladies husband or boyfriend or whatever asked twitter not to allow him to do so. Any concerns with that? Nah, he's your guy.

It's amazing. Trump sat on his fat cottage cheese ass for 3 months while COVID did it's thing and the minute he gets a fact check footnote on his tweet he moves like a fucking scalded dog. The guy is fucking pathetic and anyone who supports this cuck is just as pathetic.

  29. It's stunning that even this sorry excuse for a President and some toadies in his political party aren't seemingly remotely familiar with our US Constitution, the First Amendment, Free Speech and/or Freedom of the Press.

Further evidence that this is not just a stupid, reckless President but a dangerous one, too. Literally dangerous to the nation, to the people and to Democracy.

    Thanks, Republicans!
