Meat Shortage Starts In Kansas City

One of you d-bags in the comments wrote this and we can't help but think it deserves consideration:

"There won't ever be an American President to win reelection during a meat shortage. If this problem isn't fixed soon, President Trump can forget about his reelection chances. And yes, I voted for him in 2016 and still don't regret it."

And that contradiction leads us to the start of American scarcity in our cowtown and across the nation:

Hy-Vee to limit meat purchases beginning Wednesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Hy-Vee will begin limiting meat purchases at all locations beginning Wednesday. The decision comes as COVID-19 causes a shortage of workers at plants. That combined with the high demand for fresh meat during the pandemic means customers will now only be allowed four packages of meat at checkout.

  1. Personally I’m good with the limits. People have had almost two months to stock up with their panic buying and now it’s time to be more thoughtful of others. Hopefully future emergency planning with see businesses limit food, water, and fuel in the event of a major incident:

  5. There's not a meat shortage. The Smithfield plant got shut down due to the virus. Other plants are fine. They are trying to stir up a panic and people are starting to hoard meat. Meat will take a little longer to get to the stores is all. BTW I wouldn't buy Smithfield meat anyway after seeing that guy on the line piss in the corner and turn back around and started wrapping meat again. Going vegan for awhile isn't a bad idea either no one is going to die or starve over this.

  7. Media hysteria. No meat shortage in KC. Just go to the store and buy what you need for a week, not for 6 months.

  10. People are stupid. They'll hoard anything if they get frightened enough.
