Kansas Republicans Smack Down Guv Kelly Over Coronavirus Power Play

This session, they all made it harder to file COVID-19 lawsuits . . . With 11% unemployment in the Sunflower State, finding somebody to blame is an important political survival tactic. Take a look:

Kansas Gov. Kelly's Emergency Powers Weakened By Lawmakers Who Say She Overreacted To COVID-19

TOPEKA, Kansas - In a one-day marathon session that wrapped up a legislative year upended by the coronavirus, Kansas lawmakers reined in the governor's powers to respond to the public health crisis. Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly sharply criticized theall-night rush that drafted the bill, but she stopped short of threatening a veto.

  1. That's no shit that she's overreacted. When it's nuts to butts in a Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes or any grocery store but other businesses are shutdown is an overreach. It's all about controlling the population. Even the CDC has come out and said that the virus doesn't live on solid surfaces and many doctors are now coming out and saying that wearing a mask for a long period of time can cause respitory problems. The infections and death rate doesn't support the shutdown of Kansas.

  4. I've been in most of those stores 9:57, and "nuts to butts" is a lie, and it's a lie every time you've said it here. People are keeping apart 6 feet in all those stores and many people are wearing masks.

No legititmate doctor has said wearing the masks is harmful. You're just repeating rumors and lies you've read from your other covidiots.

    1. Who are you kidding? You're too scared to set foot outside without full hazmat gear.

Walmart, grocery store, just plain walking around. Very few responsible precautions. And no one is dropping in the street.

  7. She's going to veto their asses, as she should.

  8. She either accepts continuation of emergency authority with limitations until next month or she loses legislative cover for her actions completely. Then a judge will end her overreach. It your ass, and the rest of your malodorous being that should be vetoed.

  9. Well, thank you very much. It’s an honor to have, Governor Laura Kelly of Kansas, a terrific state, terrific people, hard workers. That’s for sure, right? Hard workers.

These are two governors that we invited. They’ve both done a fantastic job. One happens to be a Democrat; one happens to be Republican. But I think I’ve worked out — you’ve been on most of those calls, Laura. I think we can say the Democrats have been as nice about what we’ve done as the Republicans. I mean, it’s been terrific.

And, you know, Laura — I know she will speak her mind and so will some of the others. And if she was unhappy, she’d be letting you know it.

No, we’ve done a really great job. We’ve gotten along great with Democrats — the Democrat governors — and we’ve gotten along great with the Republicans. It’s been — it’s been a tremendous thing to witness.

You both have done a really great job, and it’s been an honor to work with both of you. Thank you very much. That was really terrific.
