Kansas City Star Snips At Barber And Coronavirus Conspiracy Theorists

A small town Heartland debate evokes outrage from many metro pundits . . .

In Nowheresville, Kansas barber Luke Aichele received support from two U.S. Senate candidates from Kansas. U.S. Rep. Roger Marshall and Kansas Senate President Susan Wagle both said threatening someone with arrest who wanted to go back to work was wrong.

Pouting headline from this town's paper of record plays politics with the pandemic . . .

Kansas GOP Senate candidates pander to rogue barber and coronavirus conspiracy theorists

End game . . .

McPherson County Attorney Gregory Benefiel said Monday that charges were dropped after the barber agreed during the weekend to stay closed until May 18.

  4. ^^Yep. You posted about it so.....

  5. It’s probably safe to open a barber shop in the middle of Kansas because they don’t have very many homosexuals like we do in Kansas City

  6. I do believe we are witnessing the last gasp of a newspaper that has lost all credibility - attacking rural Americans working for a living. Tony, give these political hacks masquerading as journalists no refuge.

  7. If Hillary were president the Democrats would be screaming to open up the country and the Republicans would be wailing that its too important to risk lives.

  8. It is not hard to find examples of urban progressives looking at rural America with a combination of contempt, disdain, pity, smug superiority . . . heck, it’s not hard to find urban progressives who see suburbanites as somehow inferior and worthy of scorn, never mind residents of small-town America. The ills of the white working class, the “losers” of globalization.

  9. ^^^and it's not hard to look down at losers like you who live their pathetic lives wrapped in partisan conflict. You are pretty pathetic.

  10. GTFO 7:54. That dude nailed it. Progressives have utter contempt for many of the people and values that built this country - and actively root against a successful America. Not partisan if one side is so vehemently anti-American. That is called foreign influence, and it is treasonous.

  11. If Hillary were president, the democrats would not be letting a crisis go to waste in their drive to transform America into a socialist hellhole. They would be implementing their entire wishlist of programs and forcing them on a locked down population just wanting to get out and willing to pay any ransom.

  12. ^^and yet Hillary isn't president, isn't going to be President, and everything you posted is utterly irrelevant in every conceivable way. Weird.

  13. Wonder how many of the star’s workers are hiding in their houses?
Look at their app and the the TV stations app.. look at them morning noon and night.
TV beats them for timeliness and video and no one cares about editorial but they keep printing opinions that alienate.. great biz model!

They give up trying to be timely- papers hit subscribers just after midnight if not before.

The retired scribes still writing- Question:

Why was there never a plan that made the paper viable to the future from a financial perspective?
Could it be you were too partial and advanced the wrong people and did a lot of promotion from within?

TV will continue to beat you! Even on your website! TV is free and timely and no opinion or editorial board.

  14. ^Look CHUD, the Star will still be here long after you've turned to dust. Which come to think of it, isn't really that long for you. Tick tock Boomer. Bye bye now.

  15. That’s news to anyone under the age of 90.

  16. 7:41 is half right. It would be different; but it's reality that would be reversed, not the positions.

That reality would be if Hillary was president, the infection and death counts in the US would be much lower. Unemployment would not be 20%. Most businesses would still be operating, with some modifications. There would not have been a national shutdown, because she would not have ignored the pandemic.

The Republicans would still be yelling that the mitigation done to stop the virus from getting a wide foothold was too expense and anti-freedom, that spending must be cut, and the high risk businesses temporarily closed to stop local hotspots are unfairly targeted by commies and must reopen too. If not, impeach Hillary.

  17. I Love Kansas City5/14/20, 2:19 AM

A barber wanted to save his business and serve people safely, Senators stood up for him. That's not a bad thing. That's encouraging to see. Only the most horrible editorial writer would criticize something like that.
