Kansas City's health director talked Friday about easing restrictions put in place because of COVID-19 and an expected resurgence of virus."We are caught between a rock and hard place," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Kansas City Health Department. It is physical versus economic health.
Fortunately, the Internet is also full of doctors and scientists.

ReplyDeleteThis is not true!
Dr. Tai Chi Rex the chattering parrot.
ReplyDeleteIf he only had a brain....
ReplyDeleteThe "stay at home" bought time; time squandered both on a federal level and a local level. Quinton Lucas and the City Council were more concerned with a good performance than a good plan to address the pandemic. The "open" was an ill conceived plan without consultation of either the City Council or the constituents. No business can survive with 10%. No value in a back to work effort without customers. Best guess 30-40% of the restaurants wont exist in six months.
ReplyDeleteWe started buying up meat for freezer. Prices have jumped
ReplyDeleteWhen Rex's prediction is proven wrong in 8 months, will he resign?
ReplyDeleteThe coronavirus didn’t break America. It revealed what was already broken.
ReplyDelete8:23 - "We started buying up meat for freezer. Prices have jumped."
ReplyDelete...and THAT is why prices are jumping and availability becomes an issue. Stupid hoarding becomes the tail that wags the dog.
Then the price should drop later.
DeleteIrresponsible assessment based on opinion from a government employee. I know a lot of idiot doctors.
ReplyDeleteRex may be right, a second wave of higher infection rates may occur, but it doesn't change the crux of the argument. What level of economic devastation are we willing to suffer for what level of reduced infection and morbidity? Public policy considers these sorts of trade-offs every day (flu shots?), but for some reason those discussions are taboo where CoVID is concerned.
ReplyDeleteHow can the head of the health department of a major city do not know that a mask does not work if you had a beard! If he doesn't know that I don't trust him to know much of anything else.
ReplyDeleteBecause he’s not a licensed medical doctor, that’s why.
Delete^^^^^^Are you ever stupid
ReplyDelete^^^^^. If you believe Archer you are even more stupid.
Delete9:51 please try to give something Beyond a preschoolers or kindergarteners response. If you have nothing to add but insults stay in your pack and play and we will come change your diaper when it is needed. If you really have something to offer an explanation why it is a stupid comment please elaborate.
ReplyDeleteRex is a lifetime gubmint employee who makes way too much money for his limited knowledge of any potential medical crisis. The man is freaking out because he doesn’t know what to do and it shows. The man has been going senile for several years now.
ReplyDeleteThe days of getting by with bare minimum knowledge and skill has caught up to Rex and it’s time to hire a real doctor to run the show.
Lumbering dinosaur wobbling across the landscape of obscurity.
ReplyDelete"I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek to develop whatever talents God gave me—not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any earthly master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say – 'This, with God's help, I have done.' All this is what it means to be an American."
ReplyDelete“You got this lion, he’s the king of the jungle. Huge mane out to here. He’s laying down under a tree, in the middle of Africa, he’s so big, he’s so hot! He doesn’t wanna move. Now, the little lion cubs they start messin’ with him, bitin’ his tail, bitin’ his ears, he doesn’t do anything. The lioness, she starts messing with him, coming over making trouble, still nothing. Now the other animals, they notice this, and they start to move in. The jackals, hyenas, they’re barking at him, laughing at him. They nip his toes and eat the food that’s in his domain. They do this and they get closer and closer and bolder and bolder, till one day…that lion gets up and tears the shit outta everybody, runs like the wind, eats everything in his path, ’cause every once in a while, the lion has to show the jackals who he is.”

ReplyDeleteWhile 99.997% of KCMO residents have not died from the coronavirus, Dr. Archer could find 200,000 reasons to keep them scared and panicky!!!
(Archer takes approx. $200,000 from taxpayer dollars annually)
Remember this, a business that reopens and passes death and disease to its customers is going to be held responsible by very angry people. Very angry.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what gay people do with the aids/ HIV virus.. in California it's legal to transmit the disease without the other person knowing!
ReplyDelete1:10 and have you heard what people do to them if they get caught doing that?
ReplyDelete^^^ yes I do.. They closed down the gay bath houses.. issued no public health warnings or restrictions on restaurants who employed gay people. They kept saying there's not enough evidence to support the isolation and shut down of the gay community. It was unbelievable, there's a reason why people left in Mass
Delete124..nothing, that's the point it's legal in cali.
ReplyDelete1201 angry people huddled cowering in their basements too afraid to go out. What are you gonna do give a bad yelp review? Pussy.
ReplyDelete12:01 wrote with scrambled brain cells:
ReplyDelete"a business that reopens and passes death and disease to its customers is going to be held responsible"
Hey 12:01, if anyone becomes newly infected, and actually dies (.003 of 1% in KCMO), how exactly do you know where they contracted the virus?
Was it in their home?
In their car/bus on the way to the business?
Walking from the car/bus into the business?
Inside the business?
From someone they encountered on the way home?
From their neighbor that they stopped to talk to?
From the mailman that delivered mail?
From the hospital that you went to when feeling ill?
You'll be laughed out of court when trying to claim that a business infected you! Stay home forever you little mouse, and eat your government cheese.
There's little evidence that wearing a cloth face mask keeps you from catching the virus. The main benefit is to protect the people around you.
ReplyDeleteSurgical masks fit loosely across your nose and mouth. These masks shield against the large droplets that come from a sick person's cough or sneeze, but they're too loose to protect against all germs. And they can't block the tiniest particles that may carry coronavirus.
Most people are clueless how to use a N95 mask properly so no real need to address it use as it will fall under the above two points.
There are masks made for men with beards and depends on the field you are in as to what style you wear.
So can men with beards be protected, yes by all means. But instead of attacking the person who has a beard how about attacking all of those who go out in public not wearing any mask?
This is why we have this shut down and will probably see them again as the general public can't be depended upon to do the right things to prevent spreads of any virus of this nature.
But masks do two things, they can prevent spreading of a virus and if of the proper style prevent the wearer of being contaminated with a virus or industrial hazards. No one mask is made that's available to the general public that does both for daily use unless you have very deep pockets.
Damn dude you got a computer ask it what mask is best for a man with a beard! You will find April 3rd 2020 article in the Business Insider will show a link to the CDC that shows masks are useless with men with a beard. Please state a website or an article that backs your opinion. Because I just provided one for you. Now stay in your lane! You look foolish driving in a lane you're not qualified to be in. Not a personal attack I do like 90% of what you say. You're just wrong this time
DeleteRemember the historic Great London Plague? Covid19 has killed more Americans in 1 month then that plague did in 24 months. 65,000 Americans would like to warn you of Covid19 - but they are dead from it and cannot speak. Wait till it kills a few Chiefs players - then will you take it seriously?
ReplyDelete328 idiot, what are the population differences, 500k v 350 million. The mortality rate of the chink flu is less than 1 tenth of 1 percent...practically zero.
DeletePoor ole Rex archer, he’s losing it over 597 actual Kung fu flu cases, if he’s this bad now could you imagine if we had St. Louis numbers? The man would be in an insane asylum by now. Definitely not the kind of person we need in a time when a real crisis hits.
ReplyDeleteFun fact; you are supposed to have a fit test and some employers require pulmonary testing, sometimes annually to wear an N95 mask....
Dr peacock you are an idiot.
Did you go and read the article? Yes you can have special respirators as you state, but he does not have one! None of the local Health Facilities have them. Please state to me an article that shows your point. And if you notice I'm providing substance you're just providing name-calling and fake facts. In what Healthcare field are those masked used? The department of energy require such masks in the production of their product. Look up why doctors don't have beards in the operating room. Just like Dave stay in your lane!
DeleteWe should get a new health director. The current on seems to be missing a brain, or has forgotten how to use it. Until Herd Immunity is achieved, COVID-19 will continue to be a problem, except for those willing to die by vaccine poisoning.
ReplyDelete4:30 if you are correct in your statement why is none of the hospitals are facilities crying out for them! It's because they don't exist in the medical field area where contact with patients are involved. unless you're working as an epidemiologist or maybe in the field of Phlebotomy
ReplyDeleteDr peacock, damn you’re stupid. No where did Super Dave mention “respirators” that the cdc is talking about in your cdc article. Super Dave is talking about masks. Did you go to kcps and not learn how to read?
ReplyDeleteHere is your proof of “masks” for men with beards. There are masks made for men with beards and depends on the field you are in as to what style you wear. https://www.wearethemighty.com/military-culture/dont-shave-beard-prevent-coronavirus
Enjoy!
Thank you I did go read the link and there's no medical evidence it is providing . and I, I was speaking about the mask dr. Archer was wearing was useless with the beard he was wearing. Then I provided evidence to what I was saying. Please provide a medical link. And my gosh if you attack one of the Gods of his blog do they come for you the same way the Gopher KC crowd attacks anything that's anti-city. I'm starting to think this is Chris! Responding to everybody. Come on Chris it's a nice day go outside oh that's right if you're caught outside you're a laughing stock so you can't.
DeleteIn December you could have bought an r100 mask at any paint store. Or a more durable p95 mask. But the Chinese were buying them and shipping them to China. However the Chinese govt intercepted them at the post offices and kept for themselves. Seems the Chinese took this more seriously than then USA. Maybe we should have been taking a cue from China. Why would China weld people into their apartments? Its not the flu...
ReplyDeleteDr Peacock give it up you're an idiot and no way a damn doctor and if so please tell us where you practice so we can all stay the hell away from there.
ReplyDeleteSuper Dave said it the best with as few as words needed to tell you all you need to know.
ReplyDeleteRespirators are only required in medical environments, masks are for when you are not in a dangerous environment, that article speaks to that.
ReplyDelete“So, get excited about this funny 2017 infographic all you want. Just maybe remember it was created by the CDC for workplaces in which employees routinely use actual respirators on a day-to-day basis. It literally has nothing to do with coronavirus or how you put a surgical mask on your face. A surgical mask, by definition, does not need the face seal that this infographic is talking about. Only respirators require that seal. If you shave and put on a respirator, and you're not sick and don't need a respirator at your job, you're just doing some Breaking Bad cosplay. Which, fair enough!”
Archer is still a scared senile old man, that’s a given
ReplyDeletehe seems to be a person of good faith trying to do the right thing.
ReplyDeleteIf he were still alive, Dr. Seuss would have provided better guidance for KCMO to follow. Dr. Archer is a fool.
ReplyDeleteThe night before he thought of the "10-10-10" guideline, Dr. Archer had a dream about the time he saw Bo Derek in the 1979 movie "10" three times in a row as a prepubescent youth. He thought the dream was a sign from the Almighty to name something to pay homage to the actress who filled his nights with fantasy (and strange belt sander noises from his bedroom).
