Kansas City Gordmans Kaput

The death of retail continues in Kansas City and across the nation . . .

According to the store locator on Gordmans' website, the company still has three Kansas City-area stores that'll soon be out of biz:

309 NE Englewood Road in Kansas City
13500A E. U.S. Highway 40 in Independence
155 Crown Hill Road in Excelsior Springs

Gordmans parent company files for bankruptcy, seeks to sell itself - Kansas City Business Journal

Houston-based Stage Stores Inc. (NYSE: SSI), which owns several department store brands, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is looking to sell its business. The bankruptcy filing, which was anticipated as early as February, comes less than a year after the company went all-in on a strategy to convert all of its stores to the Gordmans brand, which itself was acquired out of bankruptcy just a few years ago.
