KANSAS CITY CONVENTION HOTEL ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING JUNE 1ST DESPITE FEAR OF CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC REOPEN 2ND WAVE!!!

One of the biggest investments in Kansas City history is betting everything on hope that cononavirus impact after the reopen is limited.

To wit . . .

DESPITE RECENT DIRE WARNINGS FROM DOC FAUCI & MORE . . . THE KANSAS CITY CONVENTION HOTEL SHOWS BOLD CONFIDENCE MOVING FORWARD!!!

Here's the word . . .

"While our opening plans look a bit different than we had originally anticipated, there is no better time to open our doors and introduce Kansas City to Loews, than when KC prepares to get back to business," the company said Thursday in a news release.

Even better . . .

Let's not forget this hotel was hotly debated by tax fighters who held up the project for nearly a year. There was loyal TKC reader who loved to taunt some commenters and told us that he'd "see us and the grand opening." NO THANKS!!! The brash talk might be good for biz but we notice travelers are being very cautious given the multiple conventions that have cancelled on this place already this year.

Check the links that include local coverage and a glimpse at the embattled industry:

KSHB: After delaying its opening because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Loews Kansas City Hotel will officially open on June 1.

KCTV5: The company went on to say that the safety and well-being of their guests, team members and communities remain a top-priority.

KCUR: Still, the company said Thursday that “becoming an integral part of the Kansas City community and being a Good Neighbor is part of our company’s DNA.”

HOTEL Corona.

KC shows the love of a good party as 80,000 Americans die.

Seems kind of tacky.

^^^ +100

The Burke Hotel is already 7 million short this year. Any more loses and they'd have to close it before it opened.

This will delay the bankruptcy for at least a few years.

^^^ Don't you mean months.

what's a hundred million between friends?

I guess we now know how they feel about dr.rex archers opinions! I think they just threw the middle finger up to him. Where is the mayor statement about how this is not a good idea?

This is going to be great, so excited to get this open!

I hope they bring in about 500 hot sluts for the grand opening and enough drugs to go around.

This is going to be epic, opening the day before another regressive sales tax increase election. Vote NO.

Sadly, the fire department lacks funds to put out any fires at the swanky new hotel.

@KCMikeMahoney
KCMO payments for Power & Light District could double. That’s because of the collapse of the KCMO Convention & Tourism fund due to virus and other scheduled increase in P&L District payments

Ok Comrade

Well, @7:01, the three largest Conventions scheduled to be in Kansas City this year have already been cancelled, so @6:55 may have a point.

kansas city is a great town for conventions, sports tourism, cultural tourism, higher education, and transportation.

if corona is neutralized, there may be folks from big cities who'll move here after what they're experiencing now.

That's a big IF

Get ready for that $4M/year for 20 years that KCMO is having to put towards the Loews Hotel to all of a sudden have to increase.

Yep, this was a great deal for KCMO, smh

Another half-empty (and I'm being generous) hotel in Killer City. Wow. That'll turn things around for sure!
