Kansas City Celebrates 'Karen' Your Mother
A cultural touchstone to conclude our blogging today . . .
Karen is a pejorative slang term that is used to typify a person perceived to be entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is considered appropriate or necessary. One of the most common Karen stereotypes is that of a white middle-aged woman, typically American, who displays aggressive behavior when she is obstructed from getting her way; such women are often depicted as demanding to "speak to the manager" and having a variation of the bob cut.
From mommy bloggers to social justice activists or right wing freedom loving keyboard warriors . . . So many Kansas City women become "Karen" at some point in their lives and this is their day to earn tribute, respect and something much better than the begrudging admiration we give to our betters . . . Love.
And so tonight we dedicate this post to Karen . . . Who has placed most of the calls to the KCMO 311 line to narc on so many smalls businesses breaking coronavirus rules.
Karen . . . Who has sent 8 buck wine back at local pizza places.
Karen . . . Who uses the next door app to monitor people of color walking through their neighborhood and then turns around and criticizes others for doing the exact same thing.
Karen . . . Who bought $150 Chiefs & Royals jerseys during their championship seasons but never wore them again.
Karen . . . The worst teacher at your high school who hated her job for 40 years but never bothered to switch careers.
Karen . . . Your mom and her minivan that your took for granted whilst TKC was the only person to genuinely compliment her cooking in half a decade.
Accordingly, Karen inspires our KCMO Mother's Day playlist tonight.
And so . . .
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Hopefully, we'll have more for the morning update . . . STAY TUNED!!!
