A money quote from one our readers who knows his stuff about the parent company of this town's daily rag . . .

A hedge-fund owner is 'murdering The Denver Post'
"O Justice, when expelled from other habitations, make this thy dwelling place." As a bright-eyed kid with a ponytail and poorly trussed tie, I walked beneath that inscription every workday of my first decade at The Denver Post. Etched in stone at the newspaper's former downtown office, it imbued a sense of purpose and privilege to all who entered.
In the KC Star's case it wasn't murder but suicide by their own hand.
ReplyDeleteSo there will be some goodness that comes from the wutang...
ReplyDelete^^Yes...a lot of Boomers will be gone!
ReplyDelete^^I guess I was referring to the paper and it's decade long death throes. But if you are looking to kill boomers, the wutang works for that as well. So does the seasonal flu and other disease processes. Nobody gets out alive.
ReplyDeleteThere are still people working at the Star?
ReplyDeleteWho knew?
KC Star deserves to bankrupt and go away. The Star attacked 50 plus % of its readership everyday with its left wing editorial rants and fake news.
ReplyDeletePlus its delivery service became abysmal.
Goodbye KC Star.
Any idea how they can repurpose the KC Stars building? A museum?
ReplyDeleteCould it be a covention hall?
Gun range - that would really trigger all the former inhabitants.
ReplyDelete851 is right.
ReplyDeletethey actually deserve to go broke and go away and suffer the type of consequences cited in the venting article.
and now, the backup professorships in academia or public interest sinecures are gone, too.
justice?
^^^^OK Boomer. Only Geezers read it anyway.
ReplyDeleteI only hope that the Star is able to print its much ballyhooed expose on gun violence before it goes belly up. Gosh I wonder what it will say?
ReplyDeleteThere's no money in left wing media. It's all in right wingnut batshit crazy media. See Diamond and Silk, Tomi Lahren (or Tami, no idea), Fox News, OANN, etc.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing that drives more revenue than getting people to feel like their victims and always under attack. It's the right wing mantra these days.
It always was the right wing mantra, they were shouting it from the rooftops first two years of Trump's failure, screaming how they (while controlling the Executive, Judicial and both Houses of the Legislative Branches) couldn't get anything done because of the Democrats!
ReplyDeleteAll they were able to do is that one thing Republicans can always get done, cut taxes on the wealthy and blow up the Federal Deficit.
DEEP STATE!
MAGA!
DEEP STATE!
MAGA!
YADDA, YADDA, YADDA...
Old people are soooo lame. They post about newspapers on a blog. Soooo lame.
ReplyDeleteBut they just hired three SJWs to cover gun violence. Not one white male reporter.
ReplyDelete^^Good. White people suck. You're a prime example.
ReplyDeleteWho's the racist now?
Delete^^^You. Always you.
ReplyDeleteThe Star had a great business plan to alienate about half their potential customers by veering "hard left" in all of their stories. Looks like their plan worked well. Congrats to you, Star management. Your plan was a complete success. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDelete11:57 is correct...........the Kansas City Star had the worst business marketing model of any company. The Star alienated over half of its potential customer base with left-wing propaganda and now scratches its head head on why they are going bankrupt.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet, the Kansas City Star would try to pontificate on how the Corporate world and society should conduct itself.
^^and yet only old people seem to care about it. The rest of us adapted to 20th century technology a long time ago. Weird.
ReplyDelete^^ You must of gotten beaten up by a geezer, Weirdo.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is not a the only Corporation,That is going belly up in the next few years .Consumers buying habits are changing. They will be more careful where they spend. And many can't take on any more debt. Banks are tightening credit .And then the people holding on to there money. You can stream the Depression. You don't need the newspaper.
ReplyDelete8:51 Can you explain to me how liberal E. Thomas McClanahan and Jonah Goldberg are? They were part of the Star's editorial for years. You won't. You know how to get silence from a Republican? Ask them what book they're reading. You'll get crickets from them.
ReplyDeleteHere is some ideas for the star:
ReplyDelete1. Hire high school kids for news stories. Let them work for free and let them post their favorite influencers for pay.
2. Have anyone send in pics. Always include a few drone pics so they can see why theirs sucks
3. Have Rex Sinquefield run the show for a week. He will make needed changes.
4. Sell everything and use the money to buy some silly putty. Just make a silly putty print and bounce it from reader to reader. The after all the readers are done (5 minutes tops) sell the silly putty to a punk kid for 2 cents.
5. Tell the kid what a human waste the paper was and make them give you the 2 cents for your thoughts.
Moral: Karma is a bitch but always gets it right. Being too left too long isn’t right.

ReplyDeleteE. Thomas McClanahan and Jonah Goldberg, huh? I guess we forgot about those two conservative guys out of 5,436 writers at The Star over the years. That leaves 5,434 liberal writers to spew their filth.
The Star doesn't even make a good ass wipe paper.
