DEBUNKING KANSAS CITY BUDGET FIX: FALSE FLAG TO RAISE TAXES!!!

Tax fighters are skeptical of the recent budget slashing talk.

Here's KICK-ASS TKC INSIDER WORD on the strategy in play amid dire money talk:

"The Mayor and City Council's preliminary plan to address the City's budget shortfall is to cut employees. The presentation centered on cutting (furlough for) 500 employees: Police, Fire and other city staff. This is only a ploy to ask for another tax increase instead of examining the real reasons for continued budget shortfalls. The best outcome would be the police, fire, other city employees and the citizens of Kansas City to vote NO on the fire safety sales tax increase.

"It is time to open up City Hall so we can have real public testimony."

  1. Absolutely correct.

The tax increases should be consistent over the next few years.

  2. The furlough is absolutely needed. Maybe we should think about saving money by canceling some of the subsidy for the new hotel. Or scaling back that airport.

  3. Tax who? Austerity measures are in order. The tax base is decimated. The unemployment rate is 20% with little prospects for employment. I don't think threatening to eliminate 500 Kansas City MO employees is of concern to anyone with the exception of the 500 individuals. KCMO employees aren't known for adding value to the city.

    1. ^^^^ Excellent point.

Sadly KC has a long history of voting for stuff we can't afford.

  4. That’s funny, Kathryn shields was quietly talking about this amongst clowncil people a couple weeks ago and when I pointed this out on TKC, her husband phil came on here and called me a liar, that it would nevar happen, guess I’m not the liar now huh Phil, you piece of shit. born crooks and liars you two are.

  6. Please explain to me how cutting 500 KCMO employees is a bad thing. Does the police department and the fire department and the city and the mayor's office and the city council all need people to troll social media to harass the citizens of KCMO? Does water really need inspectors to inspect if the inspection is nothing more than calling the vendor to confirm the work was "completed"? Does streets need more people to dump more asphalt into the same crater in the street month after month? Does the city really need the 311 inspectors to harass the neighbors in the neighborhood?

  7. 18th and Vine, Jazz Museum, Street Car and you are cutting people? Just admit your mistakes and defund these stupid projects which benefit few in this City.

Nail on head post! This city WASTES 10s of millions of dollars per year to non-necessities and flat out ridiculousness that it's no wonder the city is in the financial situation it's in. $35 million in cash and over $130 million total when you include incentives and tax breaks for the Loews Hotel. In addition to the $4M/year the city is going to have to come up with to cover bond payments on the hotel. In addition to the millions per year the city is still paying on the P&L. There's a list a mile long of bad financial decisions this city has made over the last couple decades alone that have lead us here. COVID will be the convenient excuse. But all COVID did was MAYBE accelerate what was already inevitably going to happen.

This city has a generations long history of corruption and waste. Just imagine what all this city could do with all the money it's given away and diverted to billionaire developers over the years. 10s, if not 100s, of millions of dollars that could go towards resurfacing roads, fixing sewer problems, adding more police officers to help lower one of the worst murder rates in the country. You know, little stuff like that could have desperately used those resources.

But hey, as long as the movers and shakers in this town keep getting richer and the rest of us continue to try to swim upstream in a broken system, all is right with the world.

  9. Now would be an excellent time to eliminate all the horrendous deals the city has made with developers over the past 9 years. And to stop making new ones. Do we still need to spend billions on a new airport when we're facing bankruptcy and the airlines are in trouble.???

  10. I'd be curious to see how much money these developers that have been feeding at the tax payer trough for years are losing. I'd imagine not much, if any. Funny how that works.
