Lee's Summit church files suit claiming Jackson County's stay-at-home order violates religious freedom

A Lee's Summit, Missouri church has filed a federal lawsuit against Jackson County, claiming the county's stay-at-home order violates religious freedom. The suit was filed Thursday by Abundant Life Baptist Church of Lee's Summit in the Western District of Missouri and Western Division of Kansas City.

  1. Good for the church! These stay at home orders have nothing to do with the virus.

  2. There are more people wandering around Target, Walmart and Hy-vee than are at any church.
This is a not so subtle attempt to ban religious freedom.

Break the bank with lawsuits. Lawyers are licking their chops.

  3. they are right, imho, but it's an emergency to be faced responsibly by men with free will.

especially with free will, paul would have wanted good behavior and good examples, wouldn't he?

  4. Baloney. It's not because it's a church, it's because it is a large group of people.

  5. FFS, people need groceries and other shit you can get at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. You can skip church for a few weeks. Give me a fucking break. Take a Knee next to your bed and pray. Bunch of snowflakes.

  7. People are not wandering around Target, and Walmart to get survival shit.
They are going there because there is nothing else open. They are bored.

So, don't hand me that shit, 2:26.

1:03 it's not surprising that religious people have reality issues.

  9. > You can skip church for a few weeks.

The first and fourth commandments make worship obligatory. We cannot just ‘skip’ church under pain of sin.

Another hell bound ignoramus graces these comments with their lack of knowledge.

  10. @4:04 and Jesus tells us in the New Testament how to worship!

    a) Go into your closet (or some other place private, and go there alone) to pray.

    b) Repeat the "Lord's Prayer" that Jesus gave us - no need for praying any other way, God knows what is in your heart.

    c) Shun him who cries "Lord, Lord" in the Marketplace (that is, in a public place, like a Church).

It's in the Book, look it up for yourself, as a hint, it's printed in red ink.
Anything else you may believe or may have been taught comes from the practice of "selecting Scripture" to warp and distort God's Word to suit a earthly objective, and is from Man, not from GOD!

  11. I'm not religious, but I hope the church in Lee's Summit, Missouri prevails. People are being pushed too far.

  12. Follow the money.
Isn’t this the guy who said guys in biz can’t have women for lunch and such?
    No trust?
    Ask yourself this :

Do you think Jesus would sue?

    What a church! Scumbags.

  13. Hope they go under.
    Tithes must be down.
No one has to worship in a building. And Jesus was alone with women.
Poor church must be needed money to hire lawyers.

My Jesus wouldn’t hire a lawyer.

I guess their Jesus is different and needs money.

I wonder why God just doesn't take the virus away since it's causing so much pain and suffering?

    Such a loving God.

Will just keep worshiping him harder I suppose.

  15. The first amendment prohibition against making a law that restricts the free exercise of religion is being thrown out along with free speech and the right to assemble. YOUR rights will be next.

  16. Christ answered the question (if we should follow local, state, and federal laws). Christ said "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's". Christ didnt say that applies only to paying income tax. It means obey the civil laws put in place. The laws are there to protect everyone - not just 1 religion or race. This church openly disagrees with Jesus Christ. In other words putting their authority above God's. There is some federal law about separation of church and state. But is that Federal law more important that Christ's commandment? No the Federal law is not above God. Sooner or later, God will chastize this church and its members to bring them back in line with the Bible. Right now they are calling the Bible a lie. AKA "dont give to caesar what is caesar's.

  17. Of course God allowed the Coronavirus. The Bible says he is a jealous God, "have no other Gods before me". Or else. Yes, or else!

But we have our Gods - "the Chiefs Kingdom", baseball, basketball sports stars, movies stars, famous singers, money, big houses that we envy, our pride in careers that come first before God/family members, Iphones that we would kill to protect from a thief, clothes and yes even SHOES - they are so valued and prized above God. Yes shoes, the ultimate "pride and vanity object" the little objects put on our feet that we drag over the filthy ground that we cover each day, are worshiped by women who can never have shoes. Even intangible things like Bitcoins are Gods. Gambling, getting high, many things replace God.

So God sent us a little reminder that he can halt our other Gods worldwide in just 2 months. The wants us to think about him for a little bit. And decide if he will be part of your life.

  22. The "Spanish Flu" should not be called that, it should be the "white Christian Flu" it was spread to the world from a church in Hays Kansas. Like most wars Christians don't give a shit about anyone except their "right" to worship. But doesn't the christian rule book say some thing about any where is a church. Doesn't matter let them worship together, get the virus and die, less people to vote for the orange man.

  23. Thank you for standing up Abundant Life! Restaurants and bars can have up to 10-25% of their capacity depending where you are in JACOMO, but a church - some like this one are the size of 2-3 gymnasiums can have only 10 people. Not 10% of capacity - but 10 people! There is no common sense answer to this - it is blatant and it is targeting religious organizations. This lawsuit has clear merit. God bless you and all your detractors who don't seem to understand this is as much for their rights as all citizens.

  26. God is not loving at times. Read the Bible. He killed egyptions, philistines, babies, first born livestock of the egyptions, babies, everyone in Soddom and Gamorria and many disobedient Jewish people during their 40 years of wandering in the desert. God is not a nice old man. He gave mankind the death sentence so everyone dies. Sooner or later. God is your worse enemy if your not on his side. Your savior if you with him. After all God created Hell. Thats alot worse than covid 19
