TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! KANSAS CITY CONFRONTS GLOBAL POLITICAL UPHEAVAL AMID CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN!!!

We've already established that the Easter Bunny is actually a quite fearsome critter . . . And now let's continue our ALTERNATIVE take at this holiday that's mostly about love, faith and family.

PROGRESSIVE POLICIES ARE QUICKLY TAKING HOLD IN KANSAS CITY DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC!!!

A roundup for those keeping track:

Already we've seen local protesters willing THREATEN old ladies for their mistakes in order to push a stalled agenda that has now been reignited and looks to enact #RENTZERO policy in KCMO.

Bike/Walk activists work to seize control over local streets and crackdown against drivers.

The streetcar is using KCMO cash to keep pushing for an extension without voter consent.

And the "Free Bus" effort that was hotly debated by conservatives was quickly enacted at the outset of the pandemic was approved and funded without debate.

Accordingly . . .

While most locals talk social distancing and survival during the pandemic. Local activists enjoy a COVID-19 RENAISSANCE for progressive public policy in KCMO.

But the petty civic power grab is part of a bigger, global initiative.

Here's the best roundup of the situation and something we hope sparks insight from our blog community:

This Pandemic Will Lead to Social Revolutions

Money line . . .

"The most misleading cliche about the coronavirus is that it treats us all the same. It doesn’t, neither medically nor economically, socially or psychologically. In particular, Covid-19 exacerbates preexisting conditions of inequality wherever it arrives. Before long, this will cause social turmoil, up to and including uprisings and revolutions.

"Social unrest had already been increasing around the world before SARS-CoV-2 began its journey. According to one count, there have been about 100 large anti-government protests since 2017, from the gilets jaunes riots in a rich country like France to demonstrations against strongmen in poor countries such as Sudan and Bolivia. About 20 of these uprisings toppled leaders, while several were suppressed by brutal crackdowns and many others went back to simmering until the next outbreak."

  1. things change and keep on changing. It's the way of the world.

  2. That might be true but it's also true that we still live in a Democracy and voters should get a say in what happens in the future. So far, there's very little choice being provided. Just orders.

    1. Don't expect that to change any time soon.

  5. No money to pay for the new toys. The new toys will need to be returned. No such thing as a free lunch. The collapse of the revenue streams for KC MO will not be short term. Entire industries will cease to exist. KC MO co-signed endless IOUs without thought for the extreme situations.

Eventually, people will have to pay the piper.

    2. Yep the left agrees with super winger.

  6. I think you'll find that most of Kansas City approves these policies. That's why they are advancing.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Untrue. These policies have been advanced by corrupt local government acting on behalf of local capital interests.

  7. Free buses aren't sustainable. You're just asking for another tax increase in the very near future. KC is setting itself up for a major financial downfall.

    1. The tax would be worth it. We need to get people to work. Other cities are already doing this.

    2. i’m voting no for the fire tax now

  8. Progressive policies taking hold? When weren't there liberal policies in KC?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Kansas City is the poorest city in the region because people that create wealth continue to move out. Why does the eastside have so many vacant lots and houses? Crime and people that would not pay rent. Landlords walk away. KC future is not one rising but of continued decline.

    1. Another very good comment

    2. Wrong. Making prognostications at this point is ridiculous because none of you dunces really know what's going to happen in the future.

But KC has earned nationwide support for the streetcar and the bus. So to speak against them simply does not make the sense. The voters have spoken!

      Delete
    3. ^^^^ Voter said no to the streetcar several times over the past years. Only thru mail in ballots was their will overturned.

      Think about it.

  10. KC looks like it's becoming a socialist paradise.

To bad there isn't any way to pay for it all.

  11. KC will be bankrupt by 2025. Unfortunately, so will a lot of other cities.

  12. 1:43 is wrong kc has plenty of tax dollars from the huge property tax increase last year to fund the toys

  13. Here's the thing. If you REALLY look at the future then none of this is really so bad. You've got an economic outlook at his dramatically different than what it has been for a century. Public transit isn't just necessary, it's a requirement. So making it a KC priority is only logical. Sorry, but this blog is stuck in the past.

    Cars are OVER.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. False. The area is geographically wide, and public transportation such as it is does not and cannot fill this need for a variety of reasons. Bikes are a transportation choice of privilege that is only safe and available seasonally.

Cars deal effectively with all these issues.

  14. Bikes are the future

    1. No, they're the past, like eighth grade or so

    2. If what yo say is true, then wouldn't world-wide Bicycle ridership be increasing, rather than decreasing, as it is?

The rest of the World is abandoning bicycles as rapidly as it can, and switching as fast as possible to some form of electrically powered enclosed (weatherproof) plastic bodied vehicles for individual transportation.

If you want the future, switch your front wheel to a battery powered assist with biofeedback capabilities, recharge your vehicle's batteries with solar panels, and wait for a three or four wheeled enclosed cockpit vehicle to become available here.

The unnecessary and ill advised shutdown destroyed the local economy.

  16. Lots of amateur epidemiologists chiming in once again.

Always blessed to get the hobbyists' opinions on virilogical risk stratification.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Most of us don't need an epidemiologist to read the stat.s and see this is overblown fear mongering propaganda.

  18. Solar power to charge your car ? If you drive a couple days a month, maybe. Electric cars driven daily are charged using petroleum products silly rabbit. There is no free lunch.
