TKC QUESTION: SHOULD WE KILL COMMENTS FOR YOUR PROTECTION?!?

Actually, ever since Prez Trump has changed his tune of coronavirus, we notice the comments have become a lot more informative and many insights about this historic episode in American history seem remarkably thoughtful.

However . . .

TONIGHT WE PAUSE COMMENTS AND MIGHT NEVER BRING THEM BACK AGAIN IN ORDER TO PROTECT OUR READERS AMID THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC!!!

The decision is really up to our most dedicated late night denizens . . . Convince us that comments are worth keeping even though they come with a certain amount of risk and should ALWAYS be taken with a grain of salt.

The future of our blog community is up to you.

Developing . . .

Comments

  1. Keep the damn comments. They are the most fun part of this blog and a lot of us depend on the REAL TALK apart from the garbage we see in the MSM.

    1. Agreed. This is one of the few places were people can be at least halfway honest about what's really going on in Kansas City.

    2. Don't be a fool! Get rid of them. Very few people read them and they are not vital to the conversation. If people want to comment on it, they can just go to their social media site.

The whole point of anonymous comments is to avoid accountability, but also retaliation. So, I don't see how there is any danger to them.

It's a different kettle of fish for those of us who use our real names. The constant trolling & stalking does get old, & you notice that people like Chuck, Dave & Tracy make very few comments these days.

It's tiring wading through a bunch of racial hatred & misogyny. The only way to stop that would be to ban comments altogether, or spend all day moderating comments.

What's best for you & your blog? I don't know. I like having a place where I can state my opinions on current events, but there are other places where I can do that. The hateration is everywhere. The only way to avoid it is to be silent.

    So, my vote? I abstain.

  14. Tony, your efforts enrich us all.
I'd say even keep the trolls.
I've learned to read past them, mostly.
Whenever I walk out the door I remind myself that half of the people I encounter are likely to be of below average intelligence(statistically anyway)
troll comments bring that into focus.

  15. I can always scroll thru the trolls. keep the comments.

  16. Jesus folks, is this your first time here?

Tony pulls the same lame prank every April 1st and you fall for it every time.

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — uh, shame on you. Fool me, uh — you can't get fooled again.

  23. 6:38 go into the hood, talk with the hoodrats and that’s where you’ll find the real racist, the blacks hate everybody and will shoot you on sight. The murders committed in kc for the last nine years will point out who’s racist and who’s not. Go ahead, I dare you to find the truth.
