Today, Kansas City authorities and politicos expect push back from activists demanding reopening local biz ahead of the May 15th target date.

We've talked about this before but here's the best roundup . . .

Fox4: Protests reportedly planned in KC against Kansas, Missouri stay-at-home orders

But that's not the whole story . . .

KANSAS CITY RENT STRIKERS JOIN THE LOCAL PROTEST WITH WORD OF I-70 HIGHWAY DEMONSTRATIONS TODAY!!!

A confirmation note sent our way by KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS!!!

"Thanks for signing up to be a part of the Protect MO tenants I-70 action this Monday. Should be incredible! We are demanding that Governor Mike Parson use his emergency powers to institute protections for Missouri immediately. May 1 is coming and thousands will not be able to pay their rent.

TODAY Regional Captains will be reaching out to you to get you window paint to decorate your cars with our message. We are also asking that everyone wear a (yellow, if possible!) mask. You can make your own pretty easily but regional captains can help if you don't have fabric or hair ties!

Official action hashtags: #ProtectMOTenants, #ItsAProblem

Accordingly . . .

Today isn't just a right wing protest but a sign of growing Kansas City frustration with the coronavirus status quo from across the political spectrum.

  1. holding a sign in the car is not a big deal but i really hope they don't get into blocking the highway. Bad move and against the law. Also puts others in danger.

    1. Meanwhile, poor people in KC are going to be working to secure unemployment benefits they're owed or trying to find another job. Most people don't have time to protest every day.

If you'd like to join our protest today, call Tara Raghuveer on her cell phone: 913 593 7032. HURRY!! THIS IS GOING TO BE GREAT!!

That's true but some people protest because they feel strongly about something and they are speaking up for those who don't have the ability to take time off work. Protests protect wages and rights. Protesting in an American way of life.

    Deal.

    1. The protesters have been neither appointed nor elected to speak for those who can't take off work. Their claim to fairly represent workers' views is a fantasy. They are speaking only for themselves and their political masters.

  3. Better not protest you might catch the media panic plague and not even know it.

Rights are for excercises, use them or lose them.

Sweden did nothing and they are no worse off.

BTW the open kc protests are at noon, curiously the news article didn't mention that.

Actually the right to petition the government and air grievances is part of the American way of life. "Activists" who "feel strongly" about their particular gripe and "demand" that someone address it RIGHT NOW without regard to how anyone else might be affected is nothing more than selfish whining. And any more, there's a "protest" about something going on every single day.
It all becomes background noise that no one pays any attention to.
Professional "activists" and "protesters" have become an American way of life.
And, oddly enough, some folks turn it into a pretty good-paying living.

  5. I guess in about 2 weeks we will know if this “protests” were worth it. If we see a significant spike in cases, then it should be obvious they were not. If no increase, then an open discussion to reopen is valid.

  6. Nobody will be around to see the demonstration due to stay at home orders. Lol Fake news.

  7. They want decent housing but yet they ran all of the landlords off. Landlords selling out in KC and the ones left will not rent due to the restrictions that are unfair and impossible for them to make any money and give tenants the right to not pay rent and to destroy the property with no recourse from the landlord.

  10. Fuck the rent protesters they are just trying to make it look like they have protesters by blocking the I70 traffic coming into town to protest open kc.

All you chicken little pearl clutching about more infected...wake the fuck up this is the fakest weakest plague ever. There are 6 million people in MO under lock down for 5K infections a few hundred deaths, not even a bad flu month.

WTF do you plan on doing staying cowered doen until Dr F says there is not one infection left...that will never happen.

Remember Sweden has don nothing and they are better off with a functioning economy.

  11. To show his unwavering support to those wanting free shit, Joe Biden sent the "rent free" protesters a morse code telegram from his basement:

    I - stop.
    Support you - stop.
    Sleepy Joe Biden - stop.

  15. Looks at the bad areas with the virus big numbers and u will note or maybe not that it’s 90% blue states and blue cities. Democrats must be proud that their so called leaders precipitated the virus through their weak asss leadership. Thankfully Trump is spending federal dollar to help the ones that are supposed to be handling public health - states and cities.

    1. You didn't answer the question......Do you still have income that 22 Million American's don't right now because of the Goverment?

      Delete
    2. I still draw a full check every week as I have a job that really matters to the forward motion of this country. In fact nobody in my neighborhood has lost any income as we are all professionals who play key roles in making our country work. If you're over 35 and bitching about how much you make at Wal-Mart or Mickey D's or laid off from your coffee shop part time gig. You’re the one who needs to take a hard look at where your life is. Losers don't want to work but want to live like they are making the big bucks and it's them who in the end have no cash when bad times hit. Our government shouldn't be responsible for your piss poor choices in life. As of right now here today I could easily go a year with no income, no unemployment or a government stimulus pay out and not be close to being broke. But I as many I know have our cash nest eggs to fall back on if need be while cutting our spending habits.

  18. The truth is, most of these demonstrators couldn’t pay their rent prior to the COV-19. Are they using this low reaching virus as a means to skip on the rent? With tax season of refunds, stimulus and inflated unemployment benefits... average refund is about $3,000 plus stimulus $1200 plus unemployment at $600/week. That’s actually a lot of money and if you can’t get by on $5k over two months - maybe the rent isn’t the problem - maybe its spending and lifestyle choices.

  19. Sweden has not in any way escaped or fared better in the CORONAVIRUS-19 outbreak. Yes Sweden at first did nothing and yes they have paid the price for doing so. But they also have started taking action country wide in attempts to curtail the spread.
    Sweden
    Confirmed 14,385
    Deaths 1,540
    Case-Fatality 10.7%
    Deaths/100k pop.15.12
    United Sates
    Confirmed 759,086
    Deaths 40,661
    Case-Fatality 5.4%
    Deaths/100k 12.43
Sweden is just a tad bit bigger than California in size. Those dying from COVID-19 are a higher percentage than in the US. But so many people like to say that Sweden has such a great health plan but if you ask my relatives who still live there they say it’s okay but far from the greatest. Figures say it must not be too great if the chance of dying from COVID-19 is almost double of what it is in the US. There has been based on the latest figures of 1,072 deaths in California. California has 3 times the population of Sweden and yet less has died there. As having been to Sweden twice they are very sociable people who live hitting coffee shops and pubs which most are half the size of those located around here so in short sharing about your cheating spouse would probably be heard by no less than a dozen people. Their homes their everything is all done on a much smaller closer scale than here in American. So a virus such as this could spread very fast and very quickly in the end. Another thing about Sweden is they travel a lot by bus and train compared to us so that provides a huge breeding ground for an infectious spread.
