Fudging hell. You usually want a cop living on your block. Saves you a lot of trouble and helps keeps the thugs away. Not in this instance. Damn.

Q: How do you know the "accidental discharge" is a fabricated cover story?

5600 block of North Richmond Avenue

“The discharged round exited the officer’s residence and entered the residence immediately to the south striking the victim.”

Northland. Local middle-class KC finally learns why we need local control.

"Police said numerous other residents were inside the victim's home"

Police, no spin in this situation please. That means the guy's children were in the line of fire.

Need better weapons training standards for Kansas City police. Obviously there is not a focus on keeping qualifications current for veterans. That will endanger all of our communities.

Its not real until Balonzo shows up with the crime drone and takes selfies.

Better than gun training, maybe fewer KCPD officers should be allowed to have guns. It is not necessary in all patrols.

Young officer who made a huge mistake that will follow his lackluster career forever. The officer might want to seek out different employment.

^^^ Not young at least 42 years old. 24 year veteran means been a cop 24 years. 24+18min.= 42

I shoot competitively at a local range. The most careless and lousy shooters are Police Officers. They are over confident and typically have little knowledge of firearms. It was a big eye opener to me as someone who thought they had significant training to have that job.

When the same blogger daily calls everyone Geezer, does that mean non dick sucker like them ? Weird

New cop old cop makes no difference. The officer made a huge mistake by not properly handling his gun. Should he be fired, yes he should and as well face charges for the discharging of a gun as per city laws maybe even involuntary assault or a charge similar to. He may have been clearing the gun as I have seen many do while not pointing the weapon down. Whenever a police officer mishandles a gun they should face all the same legal ramifications as any John Doe citizen would along with being dismissed and banned from owning or being in possession of any firearms.

Lol Popo is in big trouble. KCPD's finest hard at work. Maybe building a police station would have prevented this senseless violence... oh wait! You cant make this stuff up!

Guns don't fire "unintentionally". The trigger was pulled.

12:22, police officers do not have nearly the amount of firearms training that most people assume. They are typically not novices, but far from being experts.

Talks like a young fentenal user to me.
