Here's a note regarding slightly less bling for the highest paid state employee in Kansas.
KMBC: Bill Self, Les Miles and KU Athletic Director agree to salary reduction due to COVID-19
Deets:
“KU has been home to us for 17 years, and been very good to our family. During our tenure, we’ve had our ups and downs, but these turbulent times are unprecedented and the immediate future is unknown. I, like others, will be returning 10 percent of my salary to help bridge the financial gap in our athletic department," Self said in a statement. "These times are serious, but temporary, and it’s everyone’s hope that we can return to a safe and prosperous time soon. I have no doubt that Allen Fieldhouse is going to be the loudest it’s ever been when we all get together again, and I can’t wait. Let’s all stay positive. Rock Chalk.”
The pay cuts are expected to last for six months and will begin on May 1.
The combined salary reduction is expected to save KU Athletics $500,000 over the next six months.
More paycheck reporting:
"Long’s contract includes $1.5 million in annual base salary with $200,000 covered by the university. Miles is heading into the second year of a five-year contract that pays him $2.775 million a year. Self is in the midst of a contract extension that he signed in 2012 that goes through the 2021-22 season and pays him about $4 million annually."
Meanwhile, Kansas athletes are begging politicos to let them make a few bucks for the MILLIONS they bring to the university by way of endorsements in order to subsidize their indentured servitude.
Developing . . .
