RESOLVED: KANSAS WORKERS WANT GUV KELLY TO FIX UNEMPLOYMENT WEBSITE AND NOT POLICE CHURCH SERVICES!!!

Every day, every hour counts for workers, families going without desperately needed resources from a system THAT THEY PAID INTO as unemployment insurance is now unattainable in Kansas thanks to devastating website difficulties.

Check the feedback for the Kansas Department of Labor . . .

KANSAS WORKERS SHARE OUTRAGE AGAINST GUV KELLY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT WEBSITE FAIL AMID CORONAVIRUS CRISIS!!!

A few of the best examples we've seen that get right to the point:

"Unemployment office is a total disaster. Web site down, unable to call, unable to file, no eligibility letters mailed out. It’s been three weeks with no solutions, patience has run out @GovLauraKelly @KansasDOL #fedupwithksdol"

Popular sentiment . . .

"Can SOMEONE HELP THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR!? We have been trying to put in for unemployment for three days and system down and phones not working. Don't know where else to go! Our Governor too busy trying to keep people out of@church!!!!!!!"

Still the problems persist and this seems to be the main takeaway . . .

SOCIAL MEDIA PUSH BACK SUGGESTS KANSAS WORKERS ARE MORE CONCNERED ABOUT GETTING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS RATHER THAN THE COURTOOM BATTLE OVER CHURCH ATTENDANCE!!!

And all of this is something to consider as newsies would rather cover the clean antics of the courtroom rather than the sordid deets of a worsening class divide exacerbated by a pandemic.

  2. PICTURE THIS: Governor Moe from the 3 Stooges just whacked Kansans with a 2X4, said it was for their own safety, claimed immunity from any liability, and reported 2 suspicious Republicans lurking about the premises.

"...system THAT THEY PAID INTO as unemployment insurance..."

But if you draw the social security benefits that you paid into as social security insurance (FICA), you are called a freeloader, a thief & a "welfare cheater".

Oh well, some people will try to shame you for drawing the unemployment insurance that you paid into - especially if they are Republicans & you are a Democrat, or they are your mother-in-law.

    2. Employees do not pay into unemployment, employers do, so yes you are still a loser freeloader, get a job already you can work if only you really wanted to...you know I'm right.

    3. It ain't any better on the other side of the state line dipshit. These systems weren't designed to handle the massive amount of claims that have come their way.

    4. 9:24, the criticism is not that you were getting disability payments, but that you were not truly disabled while you got them. A person who can read articles on line and can post responses can find work as a customer service rep or in any number of fields that utilize those simple skills.

Come clean! Is the reason you ended up in WVa that state's infamously generous social security disability hearing officers?

Were you involved in this scam?

  6. what pisses me off is that the news just treats this like it's some average website outage. It's bigger than that. Every day that people can't get the benefits from the system they helped to fund, that's one day they don't eat and their families and children don't eat.

  14. I thought Elizabeth Warren was a nutcasr but Governor Granny has her beat.

    * Democrat Governor Granny threatens her fellow Kansans with arrest if they attend Easter churh services.

    * Threatening Kansas farmers and ranchers for burning pastures and fence rows which they have benn doing for a couple of hundred years to enrich the soil with ash in order to grow wheat that feeds the nation.

    * Failing to distribute unemployment checks to Kansans from funds provided by President Trump and the GOP Senate.

Governor Granny is a disaster for Kansas.

Worse than Brownback and we didn't think that could be possible.

Granny should have stuck to her knitting; way out of her league.

  15. It's on a mainframe system using COBOL, it's an ancient system that should've been overhauled years ago, probably under Brownba.....oh wait, nevermind. You think that guy gave two shits about unemployment benefits.

There's plenty of blame to go around and certainly not all of it lies at the feet of the current Governor. You can't swap out a system on a dime.

TOPEKA, Kan. (KWCH) Tuesday, April 14, 2020

New data from the Kansas Department of Labor shows more than 100,000 filed for unemployment this week.

The state says the mainframe which crashed Monday is now back up and running. The phone system seems to work too, but lawmakers fear technology issues will create even more problems in the coming weeks for the system which was built in the 1970s.

In a briefing last week, the KDOL said federal programs under the CARES Act could start in the next week or two. These programs include the additional $600 a week and the thirteen-week extension. These programs have already started in other states, the KDOL says the start of this program largely depends on IT.

Lawmakers are concerned the timeline could be pushed back because of IT issues. Now, some are done asking people to be patient.

"We have the information, we have the guidelines from the federal government that was sent out to the states. We need to start implementing that stuff, but until we can solve these issues on that tech level, it's really hard for me to believe we are going to roll that stuff out in the next week or two," said Rep. Stephanie Yeager (Kansas House Representative District 96).

  17. 8:25 doesn't know the difference between a laptop and desktop.

However, he is spouting off about Kathleen Sebelius writing an unemployment program with COBOL on a mainframe.
