RAINY DAY BOOKS NEEDS $280K!!!

More than just a friendly ask, this longtime bookstore needs serious help from every customer they've ever seen to stay afloat . . . So far they've only raised about $22K in three days which is a hefty sum for any dead-tree purveyor and a good sign of community interest amid the myriad of reading opportunities online.

Check the ask . . .

"Today we launch a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe. This campaign is to assist the store with funding short-term gaps in operational expenses and long-term efforts to continue our business, especially our author events series. Our goal is to raise $280,000. All funds raised will be used to support our staff, reduce outstanding liabilities, and provide additional help for operational costs. Any support you give is an expression of hope."

  6. This is inane. Are we just going to sit by and watch $22 trillion, the value of the G.D.P., the U.S. economy — and watch it evaporate? That’s what we’re doing, under the guise of not losing any unnecessary life, lives that suck down welfare and EBT and Medicare and contribute nothing, given the "demographics" of this (mostly negroes).

    Jesus.

Thanks for telegraphing your pro-business fiscal conservatism is based on racism. MAGA! Red, white and blue. No black, brown or yellow.

  7. What's the difference between a street panhandler looking for $10

    and

A GoFundMe "ask" for $280,000? (many small businesses annual profit)

The panhandler wears Goodwill and holds a cardboard sign, while the GoFundMe member wears Ann Taylor while juggling a Starbucks and an iPhone.
