RAINY DAY BOOKS EARNS $70K VIA GOFUNDME CROWDFUNDING!!!

Begging online is the Kansas City coronavirus biz model of choice and nobody has done it better than purveyors of dead-tree media.

Accordingly, this upscale local merchant wants $280 and they're making good progress with $70K already sent in from bookworms in Kansas City and throughout the nation.

Given that these posts force us to dig up old pix of stacked hotties like Jordan doing "research" in order to spark more conversation and educational insight . . . There's no hate from this blog for "creative" revenue solutions as harsh times amid the pandemic have and will force many people to swallow their pride.

Here's a more upbeat take on the sitch . . .

Having Survived Amazon, Kansas City's Remaining Indie Bookstores Scramble To Weather COVID-19 Shutdown

Before the coronavirus pandemic, there was a sense of optimism among independent bookstores in the Kansas City region. New stores were opening and established favorites were finding new ways to thrive in the age of Amazon. But now, COVID-19 and the widespread shutdowns it has prompted, threaten to derail that momentum.

I guess the donations are better than developing a worthwhile online store or doing livecasts with more content. Well done!

^^^It worked didn't it? Go offer your worthless opinion elsewhere.

I thought Vivien was a rich old bitch.

When it comes down to it most people are price-sensitive. Sure, the 'vibe' of a store like RDB is great, but if you like to read (few do anymore) your money will go much further getting books online or even at half-price books. And if you are extremely price-sensitive and can brave the homeless/germs/smells of a public library, that is your source. Great that they raised $70K, but they will have their hand extended again before too long.

^^and yet they won't. Weird.

'but if you like to read (few do anymore)' - that's a TKC comment cuhlassic right there. Like, no on who posts on TKC reads, duh.

Vivien wouldn't have had this problem if she had hired Jordan to shelve her nooks dressed like that!

Isn't this the outfit that brought Hillary Clinton to town to explain that she lost the 2016 election because it was everybody's fault except Hillary?

Also, ever notice that liberal media can't support themselves? They're dependent on stealing from the taxpayer or freeloading off of donations...Rainy Day, KCUR, KCPT, KC Star (McClatchy).

^^^ Sorry, "shelve her BOOKS"!
(Don't know how the idea of "nooks and crannies" slipped into my typing.)

@9:11-No I hadn't noticed that because I have a life and matter. You apparently don't so you cling to idiotic tropes to validated your failed sense of self.

Welcome to 2020. Nobody needs to accept responsibility for being self-supporting. Especially homosexual liberals.

Wrong on all counts.

Too bad the buggy whip factories didn't think of this. Nostalgia sells.

A fool and his money are soon parted. Proverbs 21:20

Just look at all the tattoos around you to prove that.

Look all you haters it was a private public call for support and there were those who anted up with some cash for them by their own choosing. So more power to them for getting rubes to support their business. There are those who love holding a book instead of say a Kindle. Me myself I'm an avid reader and swore I'd never stop reading books and start using a Kindle. Well I had to eat my words. I borrowed a friends Kindle for my Alaskan cruise last year and won't go back to books now. Just too easy to do and shop for books over going to a store. But LP vinyl albums are making a comeback so books store here and there might be able to hold on.

Does this store sell 70,000 books in the course of a year?
Just curious.
Since God created Kindle we needn't sacrifice the trees.

I knew a KC Woman that go fund raised $14,000.00 off of FaKebook , pretending to have health problems and needed the money for Health Insurance. Then she cashed in the money and went to Norway for an almost 2 months so she could groupy hang out / Tour with her Friends the Drive by Trucker band. Now you apply this to however you want. Because People are low lifes that scam a lot .

^^ WHitney in WALDO ?

I like the store..and do go there.. but if I put up a GFM page to sustain me though my business struggles.. what? So you you sell books and choose to be in an extremely high rent area. Would be curious to know why their events are at churches and not at for profit halls. Yeah they are a point of light here.. but Rainy Day is a for profit business. They are not afraid to ask for charity. Gotta almost compliment them. Cant get it if you don't ask.

Every business should demand people to give them money beyond the profit they are supposed to make during selling their goods. LOL ..IS the owner(s) also going to split any profit they make ? have they split their profits before ? Ironically hands are out. Not hand outs .
