After our conversation about impending local bankruptcy, here's a glimpse at this town offering up more cash to developers by way of "journalistic" cheerleading for one of the most speculative developments in KCMO. Take a look:
Big Apartment Project Coming to Missouri Riverfront
NorthPoint Development plans to break ground on a 353-unit apartment complex near Berkley Riverfront Park this summer after the Port KC board unanimously approved incentives for the project Monday. The $60 million project will substantially increase the growing residential population near Berkley Park, and is expected to boost a plan to extend the streetcar to that area.
What a joke
ReplyDeleteMore freebies for the developers.
Must be nice to live in Wonderland where nothing has to make sense.

ReplyDeleteCome on guys you know this is big business and everyone involved is getting money kickbacks and guess who pays???? The tax payers. What did you people think that GO Bond was all about? OH and don't forget your property tax hikes with no rhyme or reason. HaHaHaHaHaHa And now you want to fight it. HaHaHaHaHa
Gail Beatty will make sure the losses are made up next year.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it going to take to get this damned unelected "Port Authority" closed down and put a halt to their giving away KC Taxpayer's money to these damned Developers?
ReplyDeleteAre we going to have to head for the "Port Authorities" next meeting with ropes, tar and feathers?
Can't our State Representatives do something? If not, then maybe we need new representation at the State level as well as throwing out the Mayor and every damned member of the Council.

Recall Petition time?
Most of the new Apartments will go not rented. The Real unemployment rate will be over thirty percent. And then there is the under Employment rate. College graduates will have a difficult time finding employment. You have people complaining, about paying rent now .And after this virus do you think people will want to move into a densely populated area .
ReplyDelete^^^ Retro nailed it again!
