Local Cyclist Blame Game: 'BikeWalkKC believes that crashes are not accidents.'

A mixed post update from our friends at this controversial organization . . . Bike/KC updated their post to include more deets regarding a deadly altercation involving a stabbing followed by a hit & run.

However, they DOUBLE DOWN ON BLAMING ALL DRIVERS FOR EVERY ROAD DEATH REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCE.

This is a noteworthy bit of "advocacy" inasmuch as every cyclists & pedestrian crash in the metro will be used to this group to push their questionable and costly agenda that has been proven INEFFECTIVE at keeping locals safe.

  1. How funny... this article has absolutely nothing to do with bike walk KC. The moron who wrote this is spinning and trying to fit something into their narrative. Not even a nice try. Today, life without cars? That can't be done. Oh and maybe if the bikers would obey the laws on the roadways there would be less accidents. Bikers on the road are a great hazard to the rest of us. FOLLOW THE LAWS!

  2. Time to take all bikes off main roads. This is just a safety issue. They don't pay to be on the roads, so they have no right to be on them.

    1. Right and no cars on some minor roads! Thank you for finally understanding it's time to wind down this unsustainable socialist road net.

  3. BIKEWALKKC has never been about the facts and the truth. It's a rather very tiny group of people who think their type of lifestyle and so called wants are for the good of everyone. When one of their own disregarded the laws and rules of the road and died from it they chose to ignore that fact and went to great lengths to try and place the blame on an innocent person rather than promoting safe riding at night on a bike. BIKEWALKKC advocates wanting to sharing the roads while campaigning to take over roads.

Sorry I can't support or care to listen to a group whose members too often break the rules of the road and intentionally harass other modes of transportation. I love riding my bike but do so in areas where it is safe to do so rather than trying to ride on major cross streets and hilly narrow rural roads. When walking along or around busy or narrow streets I exercise the same cautions I do as if I'm operating a motor vehicle. I watch out for cars same as I hope they are watching out for me.

Bicycles are considered vehicles in all 50 states, so it’s best for the cyclist to assume vehicle status and obey motor vehicle traffic laws as it applies to not only cars but people. How many have seen a cyclist blast through a pedestrian crosswalk light that's red? I know I have, it happens two blocks from me a lot. Complaints have been made but bikes don't have to have tags so a guy riding a blue bike isn't enough for any police officer to do squat with.

    1. Wow you sure do hate unsafe law breaking bicyclists. Are you an arrogant prejudiced jackass or do you also refuse to support transportation modes that constantly jaywalks, texts while walking, plays on phone while driving, consistently speeds, rolls thru stop signs, kills pedestrians, drives with broken lights, poisons babies with pervasive pollution, & causes potholes??

  4. Cyclists have every right to "share" the road with cars, but anyone who does is stupid. Most cyclists who ride on public streets without dedicated bike lanes are adrenaline junkies or just plain stupid.

  6. Armour blvd was a major fuck up that will not help bike culture evolve. Bike walk is better off starting by emphasizing continuous recreational bike routes. Anchor routes, which armour blvd is not. Does the katy/red rock trail end at the stadium?

  7. Yep, just last week a bike chomo blew thru a stop sign at full speed and yelled at my wife an I ( walking through a legal crosswalk/ about 6 feet from the curb) to get back on the sidewalk as he is coming through. Many bikers make up their own rules. Precious princess rules at that.
