KANSAS GUV KELLY STAYS WINNING COURT FIGHT AGAINST EASTER CHURCH GATHERINGS AMID COVID-19 LOCKDOWN!!!

The roundup of tonight's ruling that may or may not be enforced by authorities . . .

Kansas Supreme Court upholds Gov. Kelly’s order limiting religious gatherings hours before Easter

Deets:

“The LCC purported to revoke one executive order,” the court wrote in a ruling document. “We are asked to determine whether it acted within its lawful authority. We hold that it did not.”

"The court heard oral arguments on April 11, issuing the decision just after 9 p.m. before Easter Sunday. The ruling states that, in this case, Congress had not given the LLC the authority to revoke the order.

"The Court’s decision did not address several other issues that had been mentioned in the parties’ written filings—including whether the Legislature’s attempt to give the LCC authority to act while it was away from Topeka was lawful and whether the Governor’s order infringed on religious freedom."

"In this time of crisis, the question before the court is whether a seven-member legislative committee has the power to overrule the governor. The answer is no," said Clay Britton, chief counsel for the governor.

"Attorneys for the lawmakers, though, said the court should consider that the resolution that gave the panel its authority was a compromise meant to give legislative oversight at a time when the full Legislature couldn't meet. The panel is the Legislative Coordinating Council, which is made up of the top four House leaders and top three Senate leaders. Five of the seven members are Republicans."

T-Cap-J: Supreme Court sides with Gov. Laura Kelly in fight over church crowds

"The unanimous decision means Kelly’s order limiting religious gatherings to no more than 10 individuals will be in effect for Easter Sunday services. The court didn’t consider whether Kelly’s order infringes on religious freedom.

"Instead, justices focused on the language of a hastily drafted resolution passed by the Legislature shortly before adjourning in March.

"The resolution granted the governor emergency powers for responding to COVID-19 through May 1 and allows the State Finance Council to extend the emergency by 30 days. If extended, the resolution gives the Legislative Coordinating Council authority to reverse any executive order issued by the governor.

  7. And say goodbye to freedom of religion AND the right to assemble (that includes political activities, bitches) and just admit that your Constitutional rights can be eliminated whenever the government wants to. It's over.

  8. Kelly just fucked herself to be re elected as Governor.

  9. For all those that commented about assembling in crowds. Obviously you haven't been out in public lately, as crowds of shoppers talk in aisles or joggers on trails. Happy birthday parties for children in better areas or walkers. Everyone is in groups violating the 6 foot. Naïve much ? NO less , I seen 4 kids parties yesterday alone.

The golf courses are packed with people standing next to each other on the greens, the parking lot and the clubhouse and riding in carts together.

  15. I don't go to church. But I did go to Menards and Suburban lawn and garden yesterday. If we can go there and stay 6 feet apart I sure don't see why people can't go to church and stay 6 feet apart. The governor and Kansas court seems to have this fucked up!

  17. It’s not about public safety it’s about socialism and controlling a population. The deviant communists in the democrat party all along saw this engineered pandemic as an opportunity to institute their demonic will over the American public. These devils had everything in place during the communist obama criminal regime all that was missing was their criminal marxist queen in the White House and when their lousy piece of leftist filth got her ass kicked the deep state criminals went nuts knowing they would be exposed for their crimes against America, had their piece of garbage been placed in the White House no one would have known who these traitors were and they would be free to resume their criminal activities in total anonymity. So the leftist running Kansas is giving all of us a glimpse of ID cards in the future and control of our movements in our daily lives. The cameras that are watching us daily will be obsolete to a great degree as these ID cards they’re proposing through networks will know exactly where you are in real time. Sound familiar, welcome to the new China just what the democrat criminals want

  19. Governor Kelly, Kansas Supreme Court will have to answer to God for their actions. Lenin and Stalin destroyed religion as they did not want the Russians, Poles, Hungarians, East Germans etc to have faith in God and Jesus and an alternative to Communism. Democrats and Governor Kelly are reviving this Communist ideology and policies.

Golf courses, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, doughnut shops, liquor stores, gun shops are open but churches can not hold services on Easter Sunday?

  20. And yet the government you keep saying wants to destroy religion keeps giving churches tax exempt status, enabling many televangelists to live in luxury while shearing their flock. Weird.

  22. Separation of Church and State. Right Weird Boy? Then how can one tax the other? If the STATE can tax the CHURCH, they aren't separate.

    1. And yet you totally miss the point of the post, which was not that the church should be taxed (although the big spending televangelists are abusing the tax exempt status), it was a refutation of your contention that the government is against the church. Obtusely weird.
