Kansas City Weekly Power Rankings As Metro Hopes For Day When We Can Stop Dressing Like The Invisible Man Just To Get Groceries

The Invisible Man (1933) starring Claude Rains is one of TKC's top 10 favorite movies of all time and a quick look in the mirror today evoked the realization that I'm pretty much swagger jacking his style on rare trips to the QT in order to stock up on consumable garbage during this time of plague.

The film was a powerful sci-fi thriller with a healthy dose of social commentary on the role of an individual within a society and how identity, values and maybe even our souls are realized within our community and the absence of that reflection can lead to madness.

Accordingly, this week we also focus on political power moves, here are the locals who came out ahead over the past few days . . .

Clay County Flexes Against Lockdown

The Northland move inspired strong feelings and earned national media coverage. Nevertheless, Clay County sticks to the decision to shorten stay-at-home order despite mixed reactions.

KC Tenants Stays Winning Highway Protest

This group of local housing advocates took their show on the road with an interesting bit of mobile protest against Missouri Guv Parson which earned headlines across the metro and the nation.

Kansas City Reopen Activists Push Back

This week hundreds of protesters gathered in Jeff City and Topeka and the dozens of lockdown opponents in Kansas City are now at the forefront of a controversial moment that has even contradicted President Trump and most medial officials still working to flatten the curve of coronavirus.

As always . . .

This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.

  1. All of the KC metro lost this week. Too bad local leaders can't keep a promise to save themselves or their constituents.

    Sad.

  2. I wonder if people who die of corona virus in Clay County after this will have family who seek revenge? Asking for a friend.

    1. You can stop wondering because they don't.

Anyone who dies from this already had at least one foot in the grave.

  3. Should result in a windfall for NKC and Gladstone businesses, as well a reminder to KCMO businesses that the City Government of KC says (as always) "Go fuck yourselves, Northlanders"!

But it's going to give a huge boost to the growing De-Annexation Movement in the half of Kansas City. Missouri that lies north of the River.

  4. The de-annexation effort is the part of Kansas City south of the river. The next 100,000 people will be north of the river. East of "MLK" could be de-annexed without consequences to anyone except for the current mayor...

  5. So have the hospitals been overrun by the infected protesters yet...yeah not gonna happen.

    1. The incubation period is two weeks with hospitalization for the worst case individuals in another 1-2 weeks. Virus exposure to death is a 4-8 week process. The middle of July will be a bad.
