KANSAS CITY TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN CHALLENGES ''BYGONE' STREETCAR FEDERAL FUNDING!!!

A worthwhile notice from a longstanding local activist who is now seeking political office . . . Here's his hot take on the "toy train" and it's legacy. Checkit:

Chastain challenges Cleaver to nix federal funding for expanding frivolous bygone streetcar

It will not improve transit times. It will not assist inner City residents to and from a job. It will not revive the inner City. And, it will steal federal funding away from legitimate transit-improving projects. It is a very bad idea being promoted by very poor transit planners. And yet, Cleaver is trying to get Kansas City leaders more federal pork to expand an obsolete streetcar system that is not for the common good of all - but for the common good of tourists and wealthy developers.

Congressman Cleaver should know better than to support Frou Frou over real transit improvements.

Congressman Cleaver should know better than to support wealthy developers over our City's downtrodden.

And, Congressman Cleaver should know better than to sit by silently while Mayor Lucas and the City Council refuse to let the people vote on a transit-improving petition signed by nearly 3,000 voters (Clay Chastain's "Green Transit" initiative for a rapid, citywide and state-of-the-art transit system for Kansas City).

This is one more reason why you want to oust Cleaver and send Mr. Chastain to Washington.

  2. Cleaver is not a fan of the toot toot. If you recall, he's the one who declared it "touristy frou frou."

He was a better mayor than most who have been in office since.

  3. Clay doesn't even live here, so why should we take him seriously? Weird.

  7. Clays always right most of the time but thinking he has a chance to ever change anything in this worthless state and city is what makes him appear to be an idiot.

  8. Clay is very correct. Oh you haters will say other wise but interesting how those who only have a financial stake in Kansas City as Clay and I do more often than not have the smarter courses of action that should be made or taken. But since the haters can't really prove where they live and won't there's no reason to pay any attention to what they say.

  13. Streetcar provided warmth in winter for the homeless. Buses can provide this service at a much lower cost.

  14. 2:56 I wonder when you were going to show up to start sucking on Dave's nut sack? You're getting lazy as it took you till late afternoon to get busy. Did you have a rough night on Independence Ave. last night and need to sleep in? Is this coronavirus hurting your trade?
