KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly used her daily news conference Friday to sound the alarm on the state's budget situation, which she says has deteriorated "rapidly." "If we want to protect all the progress we've made in recent years - in our schools, in our corrections systems and in our infrastructure - we'll need help to make it through this," Kelly said.

  1. The inevitable result of shutting down an entire state's economy. Sadly, she didn't seem quite as concerned about all the newly unemployed who couldn't get benefits due to the state's own incompetence.

  2. Well she wanted to be Gov. so she needs to fix it. Not our problem! That's what she gets for attacking and badgering Christian churches when she turned a blind eye to other gatherings.

  3. This is what happens when your governor is more concerned about more than ten people attending church at a time than making sure people can pay their bills so they don't become homeless and hungry.

  4. Who is a worse leader? Kansas City's Mayor or Kansas' governor? It's a close one!

  6. Choices have consequences, even choices you think are the right ones. If you shut down an entire state's economy, don't be surprised when the state can't pay its bills.

  7. Let's look at the numbers. 112 covid deaths in Kansas, and a $1.27 billion budget shortfall. As all of the prevention talk revolves around the death totals, each death in Kansas cost the economy $11.3 million. Those were some damn valuable nursing home residents.

    2. Yeah, reasonable debate and the tough choices they represent are hard to comprehend for you, much easier to click to your partisan news source of choice and pick a few hot-button words that keep you from having to think... "death panels", yeah, that one will work for today.

  12. Surely when she shut our state down she furloughed state employees. In business if revenue slips payroll must be cut too. Surely she has some business sense, oh wait...........she's a democrat.

  13. Wonder if Governor Granny realizes the State of Kansas has Treasury Securities and other Government Securities that she can sell other than just cash on hand?

Need to reopen your state to generate revenue for future cash. Democrats are fucking idiots and are destroying the country.
