Sign of the times and today's indication that there really isn't going to be a quick bounce back of the economy any time soon . . . Take a look at this local institution suffering hard times:
Tourism promoter Visit KC lays off, furloughs nearly half workers - Kansas City Business Journal
Nearly half of Visit KC's staff will be laid off or furloughed, the nonprofit economic development organization announced Monday. Twenty-one of the organization's 47 full-time staff, or 44%, will be laid off or furloughed, Visit KC said in a release. The changes take effect Friday.
And Mayor Q expects a quick recovery. (or a bailout from the feds, or a bailout from the state, or...) Or in other words, Mayor Q has no foresight. Expect similar furloughs with KCMO, just a few months from now after the bill for Power & Light is due...

Answer: About half of them.
This will have zero impact on anything.
No please head for "PortKC', the TIF Commission staff, and on and on.
Might as well use this opportunity for some right-sizing.
They should all be laid off. Start charging P&L district and any convention hotel to VisitKC budget.
