Beignet closes after nearly 7 years in City Market

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Beignet announced it is closing after nearly seven years in City Market. In a Facebook post Sunday, the Cajun and creole restaurant said it is closing its doors "with a heavy heart & tremendous gratitude for everyone that made Beignet successful!"

  1. The first of many businesses to close. No business model exists for a shutdown without business for weeks or months on end. River Market is a tourist attraction primarily and the tourists wont return.

  2. Yes indeed. Not many are prepared for an unseen illness(s). It goes back to save for a rainy day. Sadly some never can and those that can usually never do.

    1. You're so wise, Grandpa. Tell us about the good old days and Route 66.

  3. Without the office workers and the tourists the businesses in and around River Market cannot survive. The "landlord" is KC MO and the city is hemorrhaging cash. No safety net for the businesses (or the City of Kansas City).
