TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY CONVENTION HOTEL GRAND OPENING PUSHED BACK!!!

Thanks to KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS, wed called this one LAST WEEK and now it's news fact . . .

Loews delays opening date amid coronavirus concerns

Deets:

"In the coming weeks we will release a new date for the opening of Kansas City's newest hotel, a hotel that we look forward to opening and celebrating with the entire destination of Kansas City," the statement said. "At the core of our company, is being a good neighbor in good times and in tough times. We will be spending these next weeks' doing just that, as we immerse ourselves in the community, lending hands and support wherever and whenever is needed."

New York-based Loews Corp. did not say what would be happening to the hundreds of employees it had hired in recent months, or when the opening would take place.

The delayed opening is the most recent domino to fall after Mayor Quinton Lucas declared a state of emergency in response to the virus and started limiting gatherings of more than 10 people. The order effectively shut down the city's conference business as well bars and restaurants.

  1. This KCMO investment will never show a monthly profit. It will be a huge drain on KCMO cash. The one positive? KC city council won't have the available dollars to spend on foolish Urban ventures. Linwood Grocery, MLK street renaming, 18th and Vine, Jazz Museum, Street Car.

  3. Hopefully they will have a lot of whores available for the grand opening. I intend to fuck a couple of them and also get drunk at the grand opening. Whenever it is.

  4. The smart people of Kansas City knew what a loser this was going to be and even said so and once again the people who spoke out against this have and will be proven as being correct. Don't blame the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as the blame for what so many of us knew was going to be a failure to begin with. Only really large conventions thrive anymore and they get smaller all the time and for sure not coming to Kansas City to take place.

Many other places this money could have been well spent on fixing.

Next up money pit that will suck millions forever will be the MCI rebuild.

If only your very accurate comment about "foolish urban ventures" ere true.
With the KCMO government "budget" being little more than one big slush fund, there will ALWAYS be money found to throw at consultants, urban futurists, developers, harebrained schemes, campaign contributors, and the usual suspect grifters by simply moving it from one account, say the one for street maintenance, to some newly-created account.
The infamous "recognizing an emergency" scam of appropriating.
Or, just issue bonds and borrow what you need.
KCMO didn't get into its current financial position of sucking air by good planning and responsible leadership and management.
The deep deep hole has been being dug for a very long time.
