'We've got two weeks before we run out of food': Americans trapped between coronavirus and poverty

In Kansas City's poorest neighbourhoods, they wait and they watch. The city's most vulnerable residents wait for coronavirus to reveal itself as they watch its daily progression from the edges of the country to the heartland. But they face another wait too.

  1. Basically, coronavirus has turned almost every neighborhood into the hood. A lot of people are waiting on those checks form the government. The stimulus better get passed today or there are going to be more people than just wall street traders who are pissed.

    1. It's only day three in Kansas City and people are already grumbling about the shut down. Would be really surprised to see how long people decide to comply with it. The sunny day in KC was filled with people not keeping much distance from one another.

    2. The Senate stimulus is a rip off. A little bit for the people now and huge give away to rich people with no conditions that they even hire us.

  2. Flattening the curve in China took two months. Doubt that will fly in KC or anywhere else. Not without some serious changes.

  3. There are hundreds of jobs around the city right now Hy Vee, Walmart and a few others that were hiring for cleaning and restocking. The stimulus could have been passed earlier but Nancy Pelosi was trying to slide things in like making the airlines change their emissions during this crisis. She was kicking the airline while it was down. They were also trying to pass more money for Planned Parenthood things that have nothing to do with this virus crisis.

  4. 100% true!
I hope Dems pay the price for their leaders’ ineptitude

Don’t think for a second Trump won’t exploit that.

I am Joe Biden and I forgot this message. Where am ?

  6. 6:39 is very correct in that people are going to start ignoring the stay at home and distance orders. If people hadn't done all that panic buying they might have some extra money around for the food they will need. But Americans have not for decades had to face hard times so maybe it's time we were delivered a hard dose of reality that stupid spending delivers stupid prizes.

  7. If you have cash- go buy a new car.
If you do payments - you can’t afford it.

  8. There are plenty of people who are going to need help during this and they're not all from the hood. Look around Johnson County or Lee's Summit very closely and you'll notice a lot of people who are already looking for assistance. The need is a lot greater than SOME conservatives are willing to admit. Casting all of these people into the fire isn't a smart move in an election year.

  10. But stil have the expensive SUV, cell phone, fresh done nails and hair, 200 buck air jordans. Or the I have an Rv, 2 dirt bikes, 2 Harleys, 4 canoes, a 22 foot boat and 5 sets of pings. Is that more like it ? Yep. While there are a lot of people stuck in poverty. More "poverty" people are like I just mentioned. My last poverty friend took a 2 month trip to find herself in Norway, after running a GoFundMe scam. So, cry those croc tears. A lot are for scammers, not poverty created by anyone but their own self. Get ya sum dat bitches..

  13. There is no food shortage.

Everybody on the planet is giving sixty or ninety day forgiveness on everything and more if needed.

The question to ask is what are you doing with the money you already are saving by missing payments?

The ghetto people are still getting their free money so they can’t complain.

    Everybody else can get unemployment.

    But let’s freak out instead.

  19. How many people will die from the economic consequences of the closing of the economy? Will it be more than those who die of the virus?

The answer is it doesn't matter because politicians won't be held accountable for those deaths, they are too attenuated.
