TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY WATER & SEWER RATE INCREASE UNDERWAY!!!

Life in Kansas City continues to grow increasingly expensive as politicos move to champion both tax & utility rate increases without regard to the impact on residents.

Accordingly, our blog has FIRST NEWS on KCMO Water & Sewer rate spikes planned under the radar and whilst customers continually complain about infrastructure & services.

Special thanks to the MOST KICK-ASS KC INSIDERS who want our blog community to know about a de facto EPIC tax increase hidden from the public so far.

To wit . . .

CHECK KANSAS CITY RAISING WATER & SEWER RATES BY 5% & 2% RESPECTIVELY WITHOUT EVEN ASKING VOTERS!!!

To be fair, recent cost in living increases would make rate hikes a tough sell to the voting public . . . But the point here is that voters don't have a choice and so far City Hall has done a great job of keeping this one quiet whilst the public drowns in debt.

Here's the unsigned and mostly anonymous request:

Ordinance #20168: Amending Chapter 78, Code of Ordinances, entitled Water by repealing Sections 78-6, 78-8, 78-10, and 78-11 and enacting in lieu thereof new sections of like number and subject matter, that adjust charges for water service and impose a five percent payment in lieu of taxes upon the City Water Fund’s gross revenues derived from water services to the City’s residential and commercial customers to be paid to the General Fund and charged to residential and commercial customers; and establishing an effective date.

Ordinance# 200169: Amending Chapter 60, Code of Ordinances, entitled Sewers and Sewage Disposal by repealing Sections 60-2 and 60-3, and 60-9, and enacting in lieu thereof new sections of like number and subject matter, that adjust charges for sewer service and impose a two and a half percent payment in lieu of taxes upon the City Sewer Fund’s gross revenues derived from sewer services to the City’s residential and commercial customers to be paid to the General Fund and charged to residential and commercial customers; and establishing an effective date.

Tragic supposition and the punchline from the fact sheet:

"This rate increase will contribute to sustainability by ensuring adequate capital reinvestment in the system and maintaining service levels, which in the long term will keep overall costs manageable for maintenance and operation of the water system."

You decide . . .

  1. Really bad look for KC. Basically chasing all of the longtime residents away and wanting to make KCMO a city of luxury apartments. Good luck with that.

  3. vote them out of office. that's the only solution. NO on all incumbents or previous office holders.

Not going to happen. The "black block vote" in conjunction with sleazy white progressives will always take the day.

Just cut the check and shut up you racist.

  5. A back door way of increasing taxes hidden in the water bill that the city isn’t supposed to be touching, all the money that the water dept makes is supposed to stay in the water dept per law, just like the airport, nobody but the airport can spend it. This is absolute bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The city is broke! The reason the city keeps increasing the cost of water is the leaders need extra money to cover for other costs and we are going to pay for it! We need a audit to find out how the leaders have been spending all the tax money!

    ReplyDelete
  7. My water rate used to be $30 a month and now it's $120!

    ReplyDelete
  8. And still no audit or detailed explanation on how the previous funds were spent or how the proposed increase will be spent.

  9. kansas City will go down in history as being the first city to go bankrupt along with its residents.

  10. ^^^Not sure why residents would go bankrupt just because the city does. Explain.

And, not the first city. Several in CA declared bankruptcy before now. Stockton I think was one of them.

  11. Enlightened insiders will point to the fact that Water ceased routine maintenance in the early 1970s and that the money intended for such maintenance was siphoned off to the City’s coffers. While not widely understood, the process worked remarkably well for years. Fast forward forty years and the lack of routine maintenance had begun to show up in the form of sinkholes and lesser line breaks. Routing the streetcar down main helped a bit by assigning federal dollars to the roadbed and the earth underneath — a small but meaningful chunk of pipe.

Sad thing is, the increases need to continue for the next several years just to get us back to a reasonably functional water system.

  13. This whole mess got really out of hand when cleaver was mayor, don’t forget that the feds were giving the city millions of dollars a year to fix the sewers and the cleave spent it all in the hood on everything but sewers and water, Kay Waldo spent it on power and light and who knows what the funk and bow tie the clown sLIE spent it on...... just think how great a shape we would’ve been in if the idiots in charge actually spent the money on what it was supposed to be spent on, but don’t worry, they still don’t spend it on the right things now so.....

    ReplyDelete
  14. 8:40 you idiot, read what he said.

When you can no longer afford to pay your bills you're bankrupt. The city is bankrupting us with higher everything to live here and the city still does not have the money to fix anything or pay for it so they as well are bankrupt..

  15. Pay up, KCMO taxpayers!
Those subsidized "luxury" apartments and "convention" hotels don't come cheap!
And that's how the cretins "running" KCMO think that's how you become a "major league city".
And you'll be paying for them for DECADES, just t like the P&L District.
    Momentum!

  16. TOP PHOTO -- KCMO RESIDENTS PAY ATOLL FOR DEMOCRAT DYSFUNCTION

(2010) The City of Kansas City, Mo., has agreed to make extensive improvements to its sewer systems, at a cost estimated to exceed $2.5 billion over 25 years, to eliminate unauthorized overflows of untreated raw sewage and to reduce pollution levels in urban stormwater, the Justice Department and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today.

Kansas City, Missouri's publicly owned treatment works (POTW) includes seven wastewater treatment plants and associated collection systems. The POTW collects and receives domestic, commercial, and industrial wastewater from residential household customers within the City, as well as 27 neighboring satellite communities.

EPA took enforcement action against the City for Clean Water Act (CWA) violations involving discharges of untreated sewage from the City's sewage collection system, including combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), to waters of the United States.

Since 2002, the City has experienced approximately 1,300 illegal overflows, including CSOs, SSOs, and private property backups, from its POTW, resulting in violations of the City's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and Sections 301 and 402 of the CWA. These overflows have caused an annual discharge of approximately 6.5 billion gallons of untreated sewage into waters of the United States!!!

  17. F----d again ! I thought the GO bond was supposed to cover these upgrades. Oh wait, they are also supposed to cover the pet project and the potholes too. I guess it doesn't really matter if you vote at all.

  27. 1102 is right: municipal governments are all increasing stealth taxes and, obviously, not operating efficiently.

  28. The question is what level of services are being provided.

For example, Kansas taxes are high but the services are medium good.

    Is that true of KCMO?

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^^^ Hell no, the worst in the nation

    Democrim run city so....

    ReplyDelete
  30. ^^Ha!!!! So true!!!! You win!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Quinton Lucas hard at work. The increases aren't option; but the optics are optional. The budget hearings were a red herring. The "revisions" were completed prior to the submission of the 600 page budget. Distract the voters with a $200,000 arts initiative while Lucas forges ahead with tens of millions of new burdens to the tax payers. I didn't vote for him. Instead of bullying constituents on Twitter Lucas and the "Chief of Staff" John Stamm should be communicating the increases in water bills.

  33. Yes I know I'll be called a racist for this, but if we hauled all the black people back to Africa crime rates would go down overnight. If all the white people were all hauled away crime would increase 100% along with killings and murders. So see the problem is black people, end of story.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Do NOT toe for ANY tax increase including police and fire, they must take the funds needed from the pet projects that doesn’t affect the public as a whole! And vote to remove the special interest council members who have an agenda against the city’s best interests! Pay attention and vote wisely!

    ReplyDelete
  35. @1:24PM You are a racist. You're also dumb as fuck too. If you removed all the blacks, then all the whites would be committing all the crime. What you wrote is called a false equivalence but you're too fucking dumb to figure that out. The lack of black crime would be filled by low rent white trash who would step in to fill the void. Nature abhors a vacuum. You're also too fucking dumb to understand that as well, so don't bother looking it up retard. TKC readers...dumbest fuckers anywhere!

    1. A false equivalence is when two opposing arguments appear to be logically equivalent. Can you show us where 1:24 did this? He was making the same argument, right or wrong, in two different ways.

You sure do throw around accusations of retardation and stupidity an awful lot for someone who is almost always wrong. ;)

      Slink off now.

  37. 2:26, at least he's consistent. Always wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @2:26-Take note: A false equivalence is an argument or claim in which two completely opposing arguments appear to be logically equivalent when in fact they are not. The confusion is often due to one shared characteristic between two or more items of comparison in the argument that is way off in the order of magnitude, oversimplified, or just that important additional factors have been ignored. I.E. @1:24 ="if we hauled all the black people back to Africa crime rates would go down overnight. If all the white people were all hauled away crime would increase 100% along with killings and murders. So see the problem is black people, end of story." So you see retard...claiming that problem of crime is in fact black people, is a false equivalence. There. I pointed it out to you.

You sure do insert yourself in a whole lot of conversations that don't include you when in fact, you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

    Suck my dick now. :(

    1. Oh my gosh. Let me help you.

Google is not a substitute for actually knowing things. And posting congratulations to yourself over and over by way of compensation just makes you look desperate and silly. You may be the only person who doesn't realize how obvious it is! But let that go.

Your original post is actually a much better example; but because you don't know the terms you're using you didn't see it. So when you suggest that white crime would simply replace black crime if blacks were removed, this creates a spurious equivalence. Two opposing viewpoints (blacks are the problem vs. whites are the problem) reconciled by a false equivalence. I mean, textbook example, so good job. You literally gave a great example without knowing it, because you heard a term somewhere and wanted to sound smart. Now you're in a clown suit.

I know this is new to you, so take it slow. 1:24 states the same argument two ways; first he says that by removing blacks crime would go down, and then he states the same argument by suggesting that if whites were taken away that crime would go up. Two ways of saying blacks are the problem. Clear as a bell to anyone but you.

So yeah. Just take the learning, honestly. :)
