KC TENANTS: WE SHUT DOWN EVICTIONS DURING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC!!!

This local advocacy group celebrates a victory following a heated online debate . . . Here's the word and a bit of supporting paperwork:

UPDATE: "We organized a huge, swift response when we realized the Sheriff's department was still executing evictions yesterday. We just won our demand that Jackson County, MO immediately STOP enforcing evictions. Thank you to all who supported our call." More soon.

  1. All this policy does is it gives all renters the "right" to not pay their rent. Not a good plan.

  2. Cant pay rent if you have no job because of the virus.

  3. Can’t pay isn’t the same as won’t pay. The difference will be lost on most of these folks. We will have a pandemic of unpaid rent.

  6. Word on the street is neighborhood preservation is going to keep writing tickets on people who don’t clean their yards or paint their houses, everybody in the city from mortgage companies to evergy energy is letting people skip payments but not the city, what the hell is wrong with these people?

  8. For starters, the governor of KS implemented a ban on evictions through the month of May without any lame group of “activists” harassing her. Second, it allows rent to be paid late, not written off. Finally, this group will be licking their chops waiting for the supposed government stimulus payment and when they get it, Mr Landlord is gonna expect his payment and rightfully so. The payments are for just that sort of thing, not a new tattoo or a night at the casino.

  9. Sorry 10:41, I don’t think a group of misfits from Jackson County, MO had any influence over the governor of KS.
