Zero Fare Transit takes step forward for KC riders

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - Kansas City is one step closer to free public transportation and now, Washington DC is considering a similar proposal. Kansas City bus riders are rallying to support the budget proposal that would fund it. Waiting for the bus is a daily ritual for nearly 50,000 Kansas citians every day.

  1. aka- how to spread the coronavirus all over the Metro for FREE.

  2. Nope. Surely can't insure safety to fellow riders at the price of possibly limiting an illegal gun owner or an illegal knife wielding criminal. Westport shows that example.

  6. Tony sure does have a lot of dumb bigot commenters who can't explain why the Prospect Avenue bus has been free for months with no problem.

  7. So judgmental! Maybe they are not bigots, just servants of the oligarchy needing to keep poor people down for their own self interest.

  8. Everyone is always a bigot, geezer or boomer when they don't endorse free drugs, supporting people that won't make an attempt, violent crime, perverted sexual acts or the Crime rate of Black people. I have noticed that on Tonys. Can't you at least use the words hater or NAZi improperly like all the other dysfunctional people do. Maybe you'll get more support to help your lost cause.

  9. "supporting people that won't make an attempt"

And yet free transit is exactly that--enabling the poor to get to their jobs. Weird.

  10. You have not talked to any bus drivers, their are more problems on the Prospect MAX than any other bus line. More people have to be removed and unnecessary stops.

  11. Blind much ? The poor are all hard working victims of every person besides them. The Drum beat of excuses never ends. All users of public transportation are going to work to be abused by wealthy people that use them. Any other generalizations and self ego boosting stereotypes today ? Watching Oprah reruns today as well ?

  12. ^^^We're talking transportation here--not you paranoid mental issues.

  13. What does it matter? If you've ridden any Kansas City bus in the last fifteen years, it has been obvious to you that the color of your skin (if the driver is also black) determines whether or not you have to pay a fare. Just wait for a bus with the right driver, and ride for free!

Not a true statement. Not a single serious incident on the Prospect Max since it opened as zero fare. Not one shooting, cutting or serious event on any of the buses I several years. STL has major Metro issues. Apparently not here. So far zero fare has not presented an issue other than more folks sleeping after hours at the new stops.
