What you need to know about apartment living during the coronavirus pandemic

On March 24, I got an email in my inbox from my apartment building's property manager. The subject line read: Resident Notice Confirmed COVID-19. My heart sank into my stomach. There were confirmed cases showing up all around the city, but this one hit a little too close to home-literally.

  2. If you have an apartment complex and have a long shared basement - with all the furnace units lined up in a neat row the whole length of the basement -well get a really good HEPA filter for your furnace to limit bacteria and viruses from being sucked from the open basement air up into your unit. You may wish to use the silver foil HVAC tape to seal the opening the filter slides into, so air can't slip past side and bypass the filter. Good Luck everybody!
