TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY HATES HY-VEE 24-HOUR CRACK DOWN!!!

Turns out the reaction to Hy-Vee cutting back hours has been pretty horrible given the vast number of local night owls, insomniacs and unemployed people across the metro.

Remember that THE BEST & BRIGHTEST AMONG OUR BLOG COMMUNITY BROKE THIS GROCERY STORY CONTROVERSY last month.

Now . . .

KANSAS CITY LATE NIGHT SHOPPERS SHARE OUTRAGE OVER THE MERE 5 HOUR SHUT DOWN!!!

It's a 24 hour world and the grocery store closing up betwixt 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. seems to be drawing outrage.

An old adage claims "The customer is always right" but maybe it's time for locals to chill and readjust their schedules.

  2. For real, I hit the HyVee in PV at 4am -- I'm an early riser -- and damn, they be closed. Went back at 5am, got my essentials, and I asked the very cool checkout lady about it and she seemed skeptical it would last, wasn't really sure why they made the switch. Who knows? That HyVee in PV gets a shout out. For realz, been my go-to for years when that little lady worked the shift and ran the show -- gosh, can't remember her name.

  3. The poor clerks need some time to stock the shelves and the rest of the store needs to be cleaned overnight.

  7. Who really needs to go grocery shopping at 3.A.M?

They might be losing one or two sales. Better to have the story ready for the vast majority of shoppers.

  8. I don't see any shared outrage. Voices in your head, Tony?

  9. My prediction that within a month it is back to 24 hours. I often shop after midnight and there are quite a few customers. They only need one checkout going and everyone else stocks shelves. Hy-Vee needs to cut back on the baggers that are too busy farting and checking their phones if they want to save money.

  10. Of course the geezers here - with their daily oatmeal at 6:45am and early bird supper at 3:30, don't see any problems.

    Nobody asked you.

  11. Give the workers a break. A few hours isn't so much to ask.the 24/7 economy is bunk

  12. ^^^ Yeah, 24x7 is bullshit. Let's cut off overnight comments here too.

  13. Hy-Vee has an identity crisis. Every store has a different look. Different decor packages. They used to care about long checkout lines but gave up on that. They used to take you to the item you were looking for. The restaurants would work but they gave up on them as soon as they started.
