Some skeptics among our blog community doubted this would ever happen and today there was celebration of this move and just a bit of regret from other locals . . .
Northeast News: "Kansas City Missouri Public Works employees are busy this morning replacing signs on The Paseo after November’s vote to reverse a council action last June that changed the name of the Boulevard to Dr. Martin Luther King jr. Blvd."
This morning Fox4 anchor Mark Alford was the only reporter on the scene and conducted some very thoughtful interviews.
This is reassuring for some amid ongoing debate over community tribute to the Civil Rights Era icon.
Developing . . .
A great day for Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking this TKC and thank you for reporting on the slow movement.
All voters were necessary in making sure the will of the people was accomplished!
^^^^^
DeleteILLEGAL VOTE!
Some of the signs will stay up. This was a scam and a hate crime against Kansas City. It will not stand. MLK Boulevard Forever.
You're a racist.
DeleteThe scam was when the race baiting reverends bullied the roundheels on the City Council into changing the name of the street.
ReplyDeleteMlk is over with, time to move on to someone real and courageous. Mlk was a nobody.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Obama lane ?
ReplyDeleteJames Earl Ray Boulevard ?

ReplyDeleteJimmy Walker Way has a nice ring to it. Dyno-O-Mite!!!
ReplyDelete6:01, that's just stupid.
ReplyDeleteNo BLIEron, you’re the stupid one. And ignorant. Go away.
DeleteIf there was ever any doubt about the DUMBING DOWN of America, the KC city council should settle the issue. You can't fix STUPID!
ReplyDelete^^^OK Boomer.
ReplyDelete^^ 7:25 MLk was racist, He also hated Homosexuals. You knew that ? No you didn't. Like any Dumb fuck, you can call others on something you haven't a clue.
ReplyDeleteReplacing the street signs is a good start.
ReplyDeleteNow what the residents and voters of KCMO have to follow up with is replacing all the irresponsible self-appointed clowns who came up with this idea and the cowardly electeds who got rolled to vote for it.
And let this identifiable group reimburse the city for the hundreds of thousands this wasted.
Good place to introduce the concept of accountability.
Can we petition to change Prospect to Killa Avenue,
ReplyDeleteIt was God's will THOU,SHOULD NOT WORSHIP FALSE gods. The Paseo has history in Kansas CITY Missouri. The Fake ministers are con, artists. And Cleaver a minister that is part of the Deep State .His,Buds, are Pelosi Shifft,Maxine ect.THE DEEP STATE PUPPETS,
ReplyDeleteKilla Avenue is everywhere in KCMO. Troost and Prospect could be express Killa lanes.
ReplyDeleteBreaking news! City workers doing their jobs. Yawn.
ReplyDeleteHow many times can TKC go to the well on this story? Can we get some new stories for the trolls?
KANSAS will be putting in a name change to MLK BLVD.
ReplyDeleteMetcalf or Blackbob.
Vote now.
This is a shame, shows was a RACIST CITY that Kansas City has become. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteYou dumbfuck. Kansas City has always shown or demonstrated racism. The mere fact that a person can pinpoint a classified black or white neighborhood on a map demonstrates racial division. However, this name change does not show how racist the city is. What it demonstrates is corruption under the guise of racism. Corrupt Black, low life preachers rightfully got their asses handed to them. They were out of order with this arbitrary name change and I dont care what Black person's name they use, it was unlawful how the name change took place and lawful now that the street signs are being restored at the will of the people, the majority. There's a small minority who want it and that is their problem. Democracy demands that the majority sets the law of this land.
DeleteA couple of signs down does not end the debate There are thousands of people who still want MLK Blvd. The conversation is not finished.
ReplyDeleteThink about it.
^^^ But the majority of people do not want the name to be MLK Boulevard, and the majority rules - that's called Democracy!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, @10:06, the conversation is finished, but the racist whining by a spoiled minority that didn't get one of their whims catered to continues.
The vote was illegal. The petition invalid. It should be appealed in court. Think about it!
Delete^^^ TOTAL B.S.
DeleteThe vote was valid, certified and all of the city rejected this failed idea!
Where are the Fake revs are their outrage ?
ReplyDeleteGive the MLK signs to the colored folk to hang in their driveways or on their porches. That way they can look at it and celebrate it anytime they want for free.
ReplyDeleteIts about damn time.
ReplyDelete^^^ X 1,000
DeleteMark Alford couldn't conduct a thoughtful interview if his short little legs depended on it.
ReplyDelete10:45, unless it was with himself; he’s his biggest fan.
ReplyDeleteActually, the facebook live capture was good and informative. I dont care about bashing people more than the delivery of facts.
