TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY STREETCAR RIGGED MAIL-IN BALLOTS THREATENED BY MISSOURI REPUBLICAN!!!

A controversial election practice is now under INTENSE SCRUTINY from the Missouri GOP Super Majority.

To wit and FIRST ON TKC . . .

CHECK THE EFFORT TO CRACK DOWN ON KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR MAIL-IN BALLOT ELECTION CHICANERY!!!

Let's not forget that NEITHER THE STREETCAR NOR ITS EXPANSION HAVE EVER WON A CITY WIDE VOTE.

In fact, Kansas City voters OVERWHELMINGLY REJECTED streetcar expansion without checks and balances. But that decision was ignored by 12th & Oak.

Now, here's a threat to remove a controversial election tactic that has been the only way streetcar supporters have managed to bypass the will of voters throughout this town. Checkit:

House Bill 1259 - to remove the mail-in ballot part of the Transportation Development District Statute

Dan Stacy, Representative from Blue Springs has introduced another bill that proposes to eliminate the mail-in voting provision of the Transportation Development Statute. The hearing will be held at noon on February 25, 2020 in House Hearing Room 1 in the State Capitol Building in Jefferson City.

I just talked with Dan and he requested that as many voters as possible show up to give testimony in support of the bill.  If you cannot attend in person, please consider sending in written testimony that can be read to the committee (Committee for Local Government) by someone else. I am sending my testimony to Representative Stacy (dan.stacy@house.mo.gov).

This is a really important bill that will go a long way to preventing small factions in the community from hoodwinking the public and stealing our voting rights by conducting elections under the radar screen and in such a way that most people cannot participate and have their vote counted. I have attached a copy of House Bill 1259 for your review.

  1. Too bad streetcar abused this. I understand establishing it this way but when one of the advocates bragged about getting votes this way, it really led to more abuse.

    1. Federal funding should be denied because of the crooked way they did this vote. It just seems like a scam to ignore so many people across the city who want a say. Voter suprssion should not be an acceptable tactic.

    2. Wierd that you think it's just fine for very expensive and poisonous highways to be built by government with no particular election for each mile.

  2. ^^^^ Sad but that's the way the streetcar has always worked. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ^^^ Or NOT worked.
How about a Citizen's Petition asking that all Federal, State and City funding be limited to an amount equal to the revenue generated by Streetcar Fares in the previous year?

    1. Ok and how about limiting road maintenance to the amount equal to road tolls?

      What? Suddenly a bad idea?

    2. Most fderal highway funds come from tax on gasoline

  6. It looks like the engineering firm' lobbyists are not providing enough free stuff for the legislators. This bill is probably just to remind the lobbyists of it.

  8. a lot of reigning in is needed on these quasi public entities that in reality just become ugly little fiefdoms. TDDs, CIDs etc etc etc.

governor Galloway will take a hard look at this entire scam.

funny thing is St Louis has had a little vanity trolley too, the Delmar Loop trolley, it goes twice as far as the streetcar and cost only $51 million instead of the $102 million KC's genius leadership gave us. it is basically defunct now. oh, and each system got about the same amount of federal cash.

there is no more money from the federal government for vanity projects like the streetcar, and can anyone really bitch about it when a fugazi finally ends?? and can not the utter uselessness of Cleaver be clearly seen through all this? where is the pork, reverend, can't you bring it into your district, or are you still recovering from that stroke? -radish

It's about time, the way kc has done this is just horrible and takes away choice from voters who eventually end up paying of the streecar.

  10. ^^^^The streetcar is nostalgia. Buses are transit. Grow up.

  11. Whenever you're given the opportunity to vote OUT anybody, do it. That's the only ammo we have against crooked politics.

I never vote to retain ANYbody...mayors, judges, law enforcement, any local office. These assholes get nice and comfy on their thrones and taxpayers end up getting bent over.

Replacing crooked politicians (as often as possible) with brand new ones that DO possibly give a damn about what taxpayers want might be the only way to change the status quo.

I'm not suggesting you vote LEFT or RIGHT....just locally, where it really matters....It's these comfy criminals that grow accustomed to getting their way when you retain them in office. They interpret the election results as "Kansas City must love what I'm doing" and they keep doing it, but it intensifies into shit like ignoring a city wide NO vote and just doing what they want.

    Vote the bastards out!

  12. Love how the streetcar was popular for like a year and a half and now people finally want it dismantled. I do believe it would have some utility, unlike now, if it went to the the plaza/umkc etc but i would cost so much that it's not worth it

  13. The streetcar is the best thing that happened to KC and downtown specifically.

The people who benefit most from it should pay for it, not the entire city. That's how it works under the current system.

  14. Once again, your sources either don't know what they are talking about or are intentionally being deceiving. The Bill does not eliminate the mail in voting. It only eliminates the requirement for an application to get a ballot, so that a ballot is mailed to every registered voter. That is the same procedure followed by the existing Mail In Ballot Act that the legislators did not follow when they adopted the TDD Act. In fact, the bill has the support of the development community. Debating issues is fine. Just please at least understand what it is you're discussing.

An obsolete and antiquated form of transportation for a city clinging to obsolete and antiquated thinking. Makes sense.

  20. Hi 12:24, guess again you one note dumbass. And by the way, the freaking bill is attached to Tony's post, so how about you read it for yourself. Or have someone who can read do it for you

  21. Ha! 12:36PM just knocked the fuck out of stupid dave!!! Hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Congratulating yourself again, 12:48? Try to make it not so obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  23. As long as KC MO insist on electing pickpockets to look after the public coffers, this stupidity will continue and to expect the legislature to fix it is to duck the consequences of electing exactly the government you deserve.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 12:48 why don't you STFU. I see nothing from Dave, but I do see your stupid comment. 12:36 your post is just as lame as what 12:48 said. 11:35 you are the one whose isn't seeing things correctly. HB 1259, first read introduced by Representative Stacy, relating to transportation development district elections.HB 1259 2nd read is relating to transportation development district elections. The real wording that matters here since this is going to committee is a follows.
    HOUSE BILL NO. 1259
    100TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY

    INTRODUCED BY REPRESENTATIVE STACY.

3815H.01I DANA RADEMAN MILLER, Chief Clerk

    AN ACT

To repeal section 238.216, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to
    transportation development district elections.

To repeal means either to get rid of something or amend the current law.

So whoever sent this to Tony or Tony himself may have worded it poorly but as well isn't wrong by 100% either.

The bill is in the hands of the Local Government Committee and and yes a hearing is set but this could also drag on forever and die on the floor. Who knows but as many as possible should let committee members know how you may or may not support this repeal. I promise you the city and special interest groups will make sure their voice is heard so the public needs to make sure they as well are heard. Here is list of all committee members.
    Hannegan, Rep. Tom R Chair
    Fishel, Rep. Craig R Vice-Chair
Runions, Rep. Joe D Ranking Minority Member
    Barnes, Rep. Jerome D
    Falkner, Rep. Bill R
    Gray, Rep. Alan D
    Hudson, Rep. Brad R
    McGaugh, Rep. Peggy R
