SHOCK!!! NORTHLAND CONTROVERSY OVER CLAY COUNTY FREE HOUSING!?!?

Not really.

Here's a nice leaked story from some well-meaning Northland voters working for free as political consultants persistently bully the small-time local government body. Don't get it twisted, this is important and the same kind of deal that preceded the resignation of the KCK top cop.

Just not sure if this kind of the local guv drama resonates . . . Feel free to tell us why its important:

Clay County Quietly Gave Two Top Officials Free Housing On Top Of Six-Figure Salaries

Two top Clay County officials who make more than $100,000 a year live rent-free at county-managed properties, according to leases obtained by KCUR through a records request.

  2. More chicanery from Ridgeway and Owen - get these two the hell out of Clay County Government, then investigate the shit out of them!

  3. it's important because it shows the instincts of these feather-bedded bureaucrats and contempt for the taxpayer. also shows the importance of someone with attention-span looking at the doings of local governments -radish

  4. The distractions from the county commissioners limits the efforts of the county to address the day to day issues of the county. The corruption doesn't end with the commissioners. The neighborhood associations are harassing the home owners for annual dues, annual dues pocketed by the president of the homeowners associations. Attempts to sue the association result in a legal battle, a legal battle paid by the home owners. The county needs to address the rouge home owners associations. Call the police and the police direct the issue to the courts. End the harassment of the homeowners associations. End the pocketing of dues by the presidents of the homeowners association.

  5. Kc has houses they put high up and highly paid employees in, free of charge with utilities paid, Wayne Cauthen lived in a loft apt that kc paid for the whole time he was here and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Who was that mean ass old broad up north that ended up working for the conservation dept? She got to live in a free house too.

  6. OMG, the horror, a free (probably shitty) house from the Gov't. Every US Army Major assigned to Ft. Leavenworth (and there are thousands) makes a six-figure salary in addition to free housing (actual housing on post or a stipend). Where is the outrage there??

  7. Free rent in exchange for being on call is taxable unless living there is necessary for the employer. I doubt these qualify and I would guess the IRS will agree.

  8. some of the comments explained it well!

  9. The elections for the county are in the works. The 3 commissioner form of government needs to be changed to a 5 commissioner form of government to avoid the current disfunction. As noted, the day to day functions are not a priority. The neighborhood associations aren't managed. The better option is to sue the leadership of the HOA. Check to see if the leadership has a quorum to determine if the HOA is operating legally. If not sue the president. The insurance doesn't cover the HOAs if the legalities aren't in order. The Crestview HOA president north of the river was sued recently with success. The end result was the majority of the fees are paid into a fund to pay for insurance. The county needs to end the HOA for good.
