MEAN KANSAS CITY TEACHER SEYZ TAKING STUDENTS OUT OF SCHOOL FOR CHIEFS SUPER BOWL PARADE IS 'ABUSIVE' AND SHOULD BE DISCOURAGED!!!

Quick life lesson note today from a local teacher who offers an alternative perspective on a Kansas City fan tradition . . . Here's the word that should make all of us glad we're no longer in school . . .

"I'm hoping that I might get support from some of the readers of your blog on an increasingly troublesome topic. There is a chance of a snow cancellation on Wednesday and there's nothing we can do about that . . . But the idea that the media in Kansas City and many online are encouraging students to go to the parade rather than school is ridiculous and borders on abuse. At the very least it is neglectful of education and the priorities that parents should hold for the education of their students. There is very little to be learned about a football parade. From what we've seen last night it's mostly just an exercise in congested traffic and mindlessly honking and cheering. Moreover, TV stations and networks will provide live coverage throughout the day. So there is an opportunity for instruction without sacrificing education and setting a horrible example to be commemorated long after. It's my hope that we can discourage this kind of disregard for students, teachers and the pursuit of higher learning. We can't all be acclaimed athletes and the lesson that young people will learn from skipping school to participate in this event are counterfactual as to what it takes for most of us to survive in today's society."

The e-mail comes from a teacher is a local district that has yet to cancel classes Wednesday, honestly this person went to far too much trouble for it to be a troll and even if it is . . . It sounds exactly like TKC's old school Catholic teaches. And all of this begs the question:

IS IT IRRESPONSIBLE TO DRAG YOUNGSTER STUDENTS TO THE COLD-ASS CHIEFS SUPER BOWL PARADE?!?! WHAT ARE THEY REALLY LEARNING???

  1. Pretty sure that they're learning to have some fun with their life and there's a bigger world out there that isn't controlled by their bitter teachers.

    2. Tough call. They won't be learning much but I've seen most schools nowadays that just have the TV on and the teacher offering very little instruction in the first place.

  2. No decent school is letting out just for the parade. They're all public schools and they're just looking for a day off work too. It's what the herd wants, might as well let the sheep have their fun.

A few friends were talking about something similar this morning. Overall, if you're worried about your children's education and you try to make the day instructive, there really isn't going to be a problem in the long run. The real problem is kids who don't have parents who care at all or who aren't around to think about the decision.

  7. If it's the provisionally accredited KCPS they're not going to learn anything anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No teacher, you're not going to get any support on this. Let the kids have fun. They're only young once. Somethings are worth it. Look, these schools don't think twice before canceling school over a perceived snowstorm before a single flake has fallen. Seems really hypocritical to me.

    ReplyDelete

  9. Go ahead and let them out because they aren't learning anything anyway. Just look at how stupid these kids are today. They can always do a make up day at the end of the school year. BTW what if the parents don't get that day off? Oh I forgot these kids aren't supervised anyway. Watch out Plaza the flash mob is coming. And kids don't forget your guns.

  10. I'm learning that TKC also works overtime to delete comments that call out the blogs constant trolling.

  11. Ironically, if all of the teachers in the KCSD cared as much as this one, it wouldn't make any difference if they missed a day of school to go to the parade.

That is NOT the case and the KCSD is a dismal failure that produces dumbed down citizens who find long division a bridge too far.

  12. It's not a paid day off. It's a snow day that will be made up at the end of the school year.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Children should NOT be allow out of school to go see a football team that can only win a super bowl game once every fifty years. There will be enough problems, without them.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 50 years ago we didn't get out of school so fail to see why it is important now. No school actually puts a strain and inconvenience on a lot of parents.

Smart move would be having the parade this coming Saturday when less of the workforce and schools would be hurt and the only traffic headed to the downtown area would be those wanting to see the parade. It's going to be a bottleneck traffic nightmare like the Royals parade thing was.

Not everyone is jumping for joy over this win or parade either for that matter. So a Saturday parade date would be a better win win for all.

But when was the last time the city of Kansas City Mo did anything right and for the good of all?

  15. No parades in Frisco. You know you live in Frisco when -

Your co-worker tells you they have eight body piercings - and none are visible.
When someone says "tenderloin" - you don't think steak. You think danger.
You make well over $100,000 and you still can't find a nice place to live.
You think anyone who drives a car to work is decadent.
You keep a list of companies to boycott.
You would never dream of crossing a picket line.
You take the bus and are shocked at two people carrying on a conversation in English.
You realize there are far more Rainbow flags in the city than California State Flags.
The guy who cuts your hair is straight, and your plumber is gay.
The woman who delivers your mail is straight and your Mary Kay Lady is gay.
You have a very strong opinion where your coffee beans are grown, and are willing to fight about it.
Your child's 3rd grade teacher has a nose ring and is named "Breeze".

And finally... you know you live in Frisco, when your team runs, passes, tackles and blocks like Nancy Pelosi in the 4th Quarter and after the game the coach says that, "WE WON THE FIRST THREE QUARTERS FOREVER!!!!"

Greta was named "Person of the Year" by "Time" magazine and all she has accomplished is encouraging high school kids to walk out on Fridays and march around.
Remember that calling attention to yourself is the coin of the realm.

  19. good call, Super dave.. but..yep..KC blew it.

  20. Super Dave at 2:33, you make way too much sense. I feel they would not get that large of a crowd over the weekend, why would you go if you aren't skipping school or work?

  21. MAGA Trump 20202/3/20, 3:16 PM

    The only good thing that will happen Wednesday is;

    President Trump will be acquitted.

Trump can proceed with governing the country, continue to score historic trade deals and continue managing the best economy the US has ever seen, without impeachment looming.

Republicans and many others are looking forward to the huge relief the acquittal will likely bring.

So letting the kids out of school to watch this historical event is good.

    ReplyDelete
  22. More time off? When will the kids be taught about Trump's favorite African country of Nambia?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stupor dave...you don't live in Kansas City, so any points you make are utterly irrelevant on the subject. Please go away and stop worrying about a town that you don't reside in, does or doesn't do, for a parade in which you are not invited. Thanks!

  24. Grumpy Old Man2/3/20, 3:52 PM

The only part of the Super Bowl TKC hasn't trolled is the halftime show.

So what's with this unofficial US holiday having most of the singing in Spanish?

And what was with the stripper poll and all the ass shaking?

Schools might be out Wednesday, but the kids sure got an education on Sunday.

  25. How can one day off hurt a city of already dumbed down and stupid kids?

    Let em have fun.

  26. 3:40, your lame repeated comments serve only to show how limited your ability to think are. It's not your place to deny anyone to attend any event in the metro area. All you do is add proof to the rumours that many who live in Kansas City Mo are nasty people.

To be frank about it, I hate seeing clowns like you making other people think we're all like you.

Kudos to Dave for ignoring clowns like you.

You can easily tell who it is; their appetite for negative attention compels them to comment on nearly every post every single day, usually with reference to Matlock, Maude, Bob Evans, trailers, or Frogville, and always with a kind of sad, infantile hostility. Their latest trick is to cut and paste "OK Boomer", which isn't even interesting enough to mock.

  30. You know, if you hate how the people of a modern society go about their lives, both everyday and in a cultural observance and celebration like this - and whine about "how unnecessary this is and doesn't solve the community's problems" - you can always go up the road to Jamesport and become Amish, where the people there do nothing except what is necessary to survive, in a luddite existence.

But then again, no internet and blog trolling either.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So 3:40 is saying that Tyreek Hill, George Brett and a host of other ball players can't attend the parade? It is ridiculous, but it's equally ridiculous for that idiot troll to keep insisting that somehow the Chiefs or the city for that matter are only supported by neanderthal Missouri fans or residents. The Kansas City metropolitan area is a bi-state 14-county metropolitan area straddling the border between the U.S. states of Missouri and Kansas, anchored by Jackson County, Missouri, and Johnson County, Kansas.

Look idiot troll, if the money from the Kansas side of state line were to dry up this town would be so royally screwed it would fold go broke and be taken over by Prairie Village or Overland Park in a matter of days

  32. I think there's just a couple guys doing all the crap posting who for whatever reason hate Tony or anyone else who makes some common sense of it all. Must not be to bright as they seem to have very limited communication skills or provocative thoughts. 41. I applaud the teacher’s commitment to learning, but kids are (scheduled) out of school now for more days than one can keep track of ... teacher work days, parent conferences, fall break, holiday break, spring break, some government holidays. Would this same teacher suggest he/she and their fellow colleagues come in certain weekends every month and do away with teacher work days? I don’t think one day is going to make or break a student’s education. Additionally, 30 years from now these kids aren’t going to remember that lesson on long division they had on 2-5-20, but they will likely recall the city celebration.
