ES History: Featuring Whizzo the Clown

We had some great things shared this week in regard to history here in Excelsior Springs. Below are the local posts that were made, for you to reflect on: This past week I shared a picture of Whizzo the Clown, who used to make public appearances for parades and events here in Excelsior Springs.

  1. Frank was a really nice guy and was great with kids I had a meeting with him the spring before he died. We were working out some details for him to appear at an event I was a part of which was to be held that fall. One month later he contacted me saying he was going to have to cancel due to personal reasons beyond his control. He never said why and I never asked. That summer was when I learned why and myself as many others were greatly saddened to find out that a person who had brought so much joy to so many people was fighting for his life.

Today we need more people like Frank bringing joy into people's lives. Actually it was Frank just two years before his passing who got me started on a 35 year to date run at being Santa every Christmas. He had a friend wanting to retire from doing it and that's how I got my first suit and the rest as they say is history.
