Here's a glimpse at how cycling and pedestrian advocates are bringing out their people to push budget during upcoming public discussions . . .
Bike/WalkKC: Active Transportation in the new KCMO city budget
A peek at
Zero Fare Transit
Complete Streets Fund
$32 million for sidewalks
ADA compliance for curb cuts and traffic signals
Street sweeping for bike lanes
Street maintenance
Riverfront Bike/Ped Bridge (2022)
The draft budget is a good start, but the City Council must see there is strong public support if we want to ensure these things make it into the final budget.

You decide . . .
The GO Bond money should have been used for sidewalks. I guess that's all gone now.
ReplyDeleteCity needs to tell Bike/WalkKC to o pound sand.
ReplyDeletethe "complete streets' fad is creating dangerous and expensive streetscapes. very high curbs everywhere. things blocking the sidewalks so even if we are a big time pedestrian city people just gotta maneuver around all the "peacemaking" stuff. those high curbs and especially the big bump out curbs at intersections make it dangerous for those of us who get around town on a bike. thx, radish
ReplyDeleteBikers are homosexuals. They get nothing.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThere should NOT be any money in the budget for bikers!
Right! We should only get to suck the nanny state teet for the things that I want! Nobody should get a suck unless I want one too, only ME ME ME!!!
DeleteAnyone remember when KCK tried to make Minnesota Ave a safe street.
ReplyDeleteThat was dumb.
These expenditures should be cut before funds for Children's Mercy Hospital.
ReplyDeleteBike riders should have to license their bikes just like autos and pay the same fees. If they want to share the road they can share the cost.
ReplyDelete11:25, the so called Go Bond money was spent long before it was ever voted in.
ReplyDeleteSome bike riders might be homosexuals, probably even most of them. They should still be entitled to their proposals regardless of their sexual orientation.
ReplyDeleteIf the money isn't there to fix the streets for automobiles and buses then there should be no money for bike lanes.
ReplyDeletePetulance much?
Delete^^^FTW
ReplyDeletePresumably since the mayor and city council can't do math, they'll just give it to them.
ReplyDeleteHey, show a little sympathy for the homeless bums who lost their licenses after too many DUIs.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, stealing a bike from some kid is the only way they have of getting to some corner with their

signs, so you can feel better about yourself by enabling them to avoid going to one of the many Shelters and having to follow any of those damned "rules".
These are the core of the "Bike/Walk KC" membership, and they DESERVE to have anything they want - just ask Councilman "Pantieszinna" Bunch!
