Kansas City Ruckus Continues . . .

A late night worthwhile local conversation regarding all things political from the GOLD STANDARD of Kansas City political discourse.

Here's the description . . .

"Mike Shanin talks to Glen Alan Philips, President and CEO of the American Royal Association, about the organization's history and upcoming new facility in Wyandotte County. Alana Roethle, Mary Anne Murray Simons, Dave Trabert and Pat McInerney discuss the debate about moving Kauffman Stadium downtown, the future of the American Jazz Museum & the pros and cons of local versus state police control."

Take a look . . .

You decide . . .

  1. NO to local control. Biggest waste of time Kansas City has been talking to death for the past 5 years. Meanwhile the homicides keep adding up.

    1. Then maybe it's time to FINALLY put it to a vote and settle the issue once and for all.

      Think about it.

  2. Put it to a vote? What would the voters know about it, NOTHING.

  3. put a transportation specialist on the panel to discuss traffic flows of major interstates through downtown KC compared to traffic flow of major interstates through or easy avoidance of stadium in st louis.

  4. Do you think original rational for locating stadiums accessible to 435 did not consider traffic?

  5. Do you think Ilus W. Davis wasn't a very serious man?

  9. WELCOME TO KCMO TAXPAYER SUBSIDYUCKUS

    Downtown Baseball?
John Sherman and investors bought the Royals for $1 Billion(+) but now need taxpayers to cough up another billion for a shiny new downtown stadium. Mayor Lucas will prove he's a liar, again, by promoting the stadium tax, just like he schemed to push through the KCFD sales tax increase.

    Jazz Museum?
A sour note since it's opening in 1997, this 18th and Vine money pit has always been in the wrong location, with the wrong leadership. It's an example of KC's liberal political racism. Just keep giving them a few million dollars more every year.

    KCPD Local Control?
Shameful spotlight on KCMO, as the only sizeable city in the nation without local control of their police department. Wonder why KCMO is going bankrupt due to out-of-control annual budget increases for Police/Fire? KCMO doesn't control either one!

    ROAST
Mary Anne Murray "My Name Is Too Freaking Long!" Simons is a Red-Scare Monger. It's called Freedom of Speech. And it's no worse than the Leftist propaganda peddled daily by the apparatchiks at CNN.

  10. ^^^^ Yeah, yeah, fine, Boomer!
But on a more important note, Alana needs to wear long sleeves so her "bye-bye arms" don't wave at the viewers!

  11. I think the panel DID do a pretty good job of pointing out the fact that the Police Board IS Local Control, and that the whole kerfuffle is about a group of black Politicos (and the Res who run them) wanting the Po-PO to dance to their tune instead of the Governor's.

Think for a moment, would you want the corrupt Klowncil Membership that infest City Hall telling the Police which crimes to ignore and which to pursue? Didn't work too well back in the Thirties.

  12. There is way too much overlap between the topics on Ruckus and Kansas City Week in Review. And, as KCWIR has "Kansas City" in the name, it would make more sense for that to be the more locally focused of the two programs.

KCPT has a metro-wide audience many of whom don't live in KCMO proper and aren't interested in many of these narrow KCMO issues. It seems so obtuse to be selecting niche local issues that have been discussed repeatedly on both shows and neglect huge national topics like impeachment and acquittal, the SOTU drama, the Iowa Dem caucus debacle, etc.

To believe your position, one must conclude that KCMO is managing their Police Department the right way, and the rest of the major cities in the country are doing it wrong.

    Play the lottery much?
