KANSAS CITY CHIEFS BOOZING IN PUBLIC DURING SUPER BOWL PARADE VIOLATED LAW & EARNED REBUKE FROM PARENTS!!!

During the long-ago era of prohibition Kansas City earned international notoriety for its corrupt defiance of prudish American law that was eventually repealed. During the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, superstar athletes also defied more reasonable restrictions on drinking in public.

Let's not forget that before the parade Kansas City's top cop warned the public about drinking outside of designated areas like bars, restaurants and residences.

KCPD Chief: "As always, public alcohol consumption also is prohibited."

However . . .

THOUSANDS OF CAMERAS DOCUMENTED THE CHIEFS BOOZING IT UP ON THE STREETS DURING THE PARADE AND OPENLY DEFYING KANSAS CITY LAWS EVERYBODY ELSE MUST OBEY!!!

Sports media confirmation . . .

Patrick Mahomes Pouring a Beer Into Travis Kelce’s Mouth is the Highlight of Chiefs Parade

And thankfully, at least one local station documents beer chugging that breaks the law:

KMBC: Eric Fisher relives viral Stone Cold beer celebration during Super Bowl parade

Chiefs fans are trying to spin criticism and claim the booze is fake . . . Witnesses at the scene, social media clips and the smells from the crowd confirm THOSE BEERS WERE THE REAL THING.

More to the point the rambling from the Chiefs during their speeches was nothing more than nearly incoherent impromptu chatter and yelling that usually emanates from the the cheap seats among functional alcoholics who utilize local games as nothing more than an excuse to drink.

Here's word sent our way from one fan and a growing sentiment starting to trend . . .

"I understand this victory was historic and these guys are entitled to a good time but what kind of message does it send to have them chugging beers for three hours on our downtown streets?

Slurring through thanks to Veterans isn't really a proper tribute. It was impossible to listen to them because most players were drunk on stage. There were tens of thousands of young people watching and what they witnessed didn't have any more dignity than a late night college kegger.

Again, I know the Chiefs are young athletes who can do whatever they please during their own time but this was a parade and rally funded by taxpayer dollars, and attended by elected officials. It didn't have to be a beer fest but that's how it turned out. More than anything, this was NOT a family friendly event."

Police escorted the Chiefs boozing so it's unlikely any fines or admonishment will result.

We understand concerns from parents but that's just one of many complaints starting to emerge . . .

As voters discuss the uncomfortable topic of corruption amid a debate over local control of police, this historic episode clearly demonstrates millionaire celebrity athletes acting above the law in full view of hundreds of thousands on Kansas City streets.

You decide . . .

  6. That's not how a true professional acts in public. But do we even have any professionals left in today's world.

If any elected official were to act like this in public after winning an election by celebrity as such while openly breaking laws clearly caught on camera would you all giggle and laugh while saying, "Oh they just having some fun?" No you would be screaming for heads to roll.

There should have been some action taken against them but of course there wasn't. They make me sick after all look who they work for and what that stands for in our country. Scum, and so are the people who support them!

C’mon people, get real.

The streets were closed off and effectively rendered a private event for the team with the public able to look on, so there's no illegality going on here. None of them were driving, they had escorts so I don't see the big deal.

Kelce drunk? Ever been around him sober? The alcohol just slowed his roll some for the event. Yes, all of them were drinking but none of them fall down idiot drunk. They acted far better than the fans who showed up at P&L Sunday and had tied one before noon.

  48. Watching the team get plastered along the parade route reminds me why I don't go to Chiefs games any more...last couple of times I went, I was surrounded by loud-mouthed, drunken slobs, spilling beer all over the place, yelling abusive, foul language toward each other (Chiefs fans yelling and picking fights with other Chiefs fans), etc. It amazes me the # of people who, having done absolutely NOTHING, somehow justify themselves WINNERS, riding the coattails of this winning team...as if even being a season ticket holder for 50 years and owning a crapload of Chiefs shirts and trinkets, somehow makes you a winner...or being a politician at the same time the team wins the SuperBowl somehow is attributable to you...nope, you're still LOSERS. NEWSFLASH: Y'all are sheeple wasting your time and alot of money, as only an OBSERVER, watching a silly game...get a life! BTW, I don't remember the World Series winning KC Royals team being drunken goons during their celebratory parade...just sayin'! 55. It was a poorly planned parade and celebration at Union Station. Nobody was there to listen, or see a bunch of dumbass politicians.

Next time make it like the Rose Bowl parade. Would have been cool to have the outstanding local high school marching bands interspersed between individual convertibles for each Chiefs player and their significant others. Plus have the Chiefs players in their jerseys.

Should of have Tech 9 or at least a DJ playing jamming music for the crowd to dance to in order to stay warm. Needed music up and down Grand. Only entertainment was the police chase and guy falling out of the tree. GO CHIEFS !!! Thanks for the great season!

  57. When Patrick Mahomes has young children, he and his wife are not going to want some drunk chugging a beer in front of his kids and slamming the can on the street or witnessing Tyrek Hill holding his crotch. Kelce acted like a narcissitic, look at me two year old.

We have all partied and had fun in our younger days, but there is a time and place for that; and the time and place is not in front of young children that look up to these football players. Clark Hunt and Andy Reid dropped the ball in preparing their millionaire employees for this taxpayer funded parade. The Chiefs image took a big hit.

The Honey Badger, Frank Clark, Chris Jones and the guys on defense showed respect for the fans, shaking hands, showing their appreciation to the fan's support etc. Can't say that for the big-ego players on offense.

  59. Like it or not, this parade was nationally televised and the behavior of the team reflects on our city. I have no problem with the players doing the parade, connecting with fans, making their speeches and then doing whatever they want to do. They didn't need to make alcohol the focus of the parade.

Mahomes is always portrayed as a nice, sensible, godly person, and what we saw yesterday was not the image that we had of him. I frankly didn't like what I saw yesterday from Mahomes, Kelce or Hill. I thought they were nice, respectful men and what I say yesterday were immature thugs. It changed the way I think about them and about the Chiefs.

I also don't like the way they swing the Lombardi around, drink beer from it, etc. It's disrespectful. It's like they aren't old enough or mature enough to understand the enormity of winning the Super Bowl. Maybe they didn't deserve to win the Super Bowl yet. Maybe if it took longer, they'd appreciate it more and have more respect for the trophy and their fans.

I went to the Royals parade after they won the World Series and they kept it classy. I certainly didn't expect this from the Chiefs players, especially Mahomes.

I have to wonder if Mahomes' parents are disappointed in his behavior, since it sounds like they raised him NOT to be like this.

  61. Yes, it was nationally televised. It was on ESPN Network.

  62. I was at parade. I have no problem if players want to celebrate by drinking. They deserve to let loose after their season of constraints, curfews and especially their Super Bowl Victory and...i have to remember they are mostly kids..i have kids their age. Having said that I do wish they would have been more subtle with their drinking given the worldwide attention and the youth onlookers. Like it or not they are role models for many young people and they do have a big influence. Now...having said that...they all praise Coach Reid for his encouraging them to be them. They were being themselves and even though I felt it was a bit over the top (alcohol and language wise) at least they were not hypocritical. So..I appreciate both sides. I'm 62, I do enjoy a few beers socially, consider myself to be conservative but open minded and enjoyed the Royals parade more . Partially because of the weather but mostly b c they represented KC well. I'll still love our Chiefs. I just would like to see them rep our city a little better next time around which is hopefully next year. We are all entitled to our opinions. This is mine. Go Chiefs!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Just my take, you can understand their behavior but you CANNOT defend it. It does take away from their accomplishments on the field, they are the best. Off the field not so much this time.

I am disappointed for them. I am old, old, old and look up to these young men as disciplined professionals, Mahomes in particular as a natural leader. Unfortunately we find our Gods have feet of clay. So I will say it for you OK BOOMER. On the up side they will surely grow into their better selves.

    ReplyDelete
  64. @11:14pm Correction: Insert does "NOT" take away. Sorry ,said I was old.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yeah, I am a huge Chiefs fan and am thrilled that they won the Super Bowl. I am not thrilled that the parade became such a drunken bash. I wasn't able to go to the Royals victory parade so I spent a lot of money to get a hotel and make sure I was able to attend the Chiefs parade. While I enjoyed the spectacle I was left feeling a little hollow as the players being so clearly drunk and out of control really sent a bad message. While II will still enjoy the team and pull for them I now see a more accurate side of the players that was really disappointing. It didn't have to be that way. The entire city has been celebrating and it just seems to me that it could have been a classier experience for all of us.
