Counterpoint: Activist Clay Chastain Fears KCMO Will Repeal 'Save The Paseo' Vote

This town's most prolific petitioner deserves to be heard on this issue because he has personal experience in dealing with City Hall election tactics. Here's his insight . . .

Clay Chastain: KC's False News Media gives City Hall disgraceful pass concerning on-going petition abuses.

The shriveled up Star, and the rest of Kansas City's False News Media, are failing to hold City Hall accountable for its on-going abuses to the public interest. The Chiefs, mayhem and national controversies are now their Gods. Exposing local political corruption is of little interest-especially when it bucks the local status quo.

(1`) City Hall refuses to respect the voters will (concerning the Save the Paseo election) and change the name of MLK Blvd. back to Paseo Blvd. The reason why (and its not the weather excuse)? City Hall is scheming to either legally challenge the election, or wait 9-months till they can repeal the vote like they did my light rail election win in 2007.

(2) City Hall refuses to respect the voters will (concerning a transit-improving petition signed by 2,700 KC voters) and place that "Green Transit" petition before voters. The reason why (and its not because it isn't a valid legal petition)? City Hall does not want citywide voters to vote on an alternative transit plan that challenges its (undemocratically-approved, obsolete and limited) novelty streetcar system (which Cleaver is trying to get more federal pork for).

City leaders Mayor Quinton Lucas and Councilwoman Katherine Shields are the ring leaders behind this violation of the public trust. Yet, not one media outlet will question either of them about their underhanded, disgraceful and non-transparent misbehavior.

If Kasnsas City ever gets a real, brave and professional media outlet (that actually cares about the public and keeping it informed on local political corruption), it will be lonesome.
