TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! KANSAS CITY BIKE PLAN CRITICS CLAIM SNOWBOUND WEEKEND DEBUNKS DESPERATE NEED FOR SCHEME PRICED AT $400-MILLION!!!

This weekend the weather gives cycling advocates a fact check according to many local residents amongst their opposition.

Local cycling advocates promise a stronger push for their primary policy goal:

"The City has drafted a new bike master plan that still awaits approval from the new council. BikeWalkKC is committed to seeing the plan adopted by the full City Council."

Once again the effort is estimated to cost HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF BUCKS and is focused on adding more bike lines.

Accordingly . . .

OPPONENTS OF THE NEW KANSAS CITY BIKE MASTER PLAN REMIND US THAT SNOWBOUND WEEKENDS IN THE WINTER THREATEN TO MAKE MILLIONS WORTH OF CYCLIST ACCOMMODATION USELESS FOR MOST KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS!!!

Here's the word for Sunday . . .

"Look outside. Do you see anybody riding a bicycle??? Yet cycling advocates are telling us that we're all guilty of murder if we don't grant their request for hundreds of millions to build bike lanes that are mostly empty during Winter. Despite all of the climate change arguments, as far as I can tell KC is still a freezing winter weather city and bike lanes aren't a viable form of transportation for our seniors or families for nearly a quarter of the year. It's a shame that cycling advocates take any criticism as a personal affront but a simple weather check today is all that is required to disprove the vast majority of their advocacy."

To be fair, Bike/Walk KC continues their local struggle and not only hopes to replenish the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee but also hopes to complete a "systemic" evaluation of Kansas City streets in order to help improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

You decide . . .

Even in the best of weather most of the bike lanes are empty. They're a waste of money and the real KC public nuisance.

Nobody has ever explained why it costs so many millions just to paint a few lines in the streets. Seems like SOMEBODY is overcharging on the "design" aspect of this city construction. Maybe that's what we need to focus on going forward.

Hey. What's a few hundred million between friends? Said every development lawyer in Kansas City ever.

We need more money for streets first. Seems like this is an issue where we could get some cooperation between cyclists and drivers, potholes hurt both parties. Think about the powerful fuss we could all make if both drivers and bikers as to get local roads repaired faster? It would definitely be a win/win.

That's a nice thought but it will never happen, the bike lanes are just one of many plans to get contracts for consultancies that have aligned with "the cause" same thing for streetcar and the airport. Most of the advocacy that you see at City Hall is just somebody with their hand out looking for their big payday.

^^^ +15K on that comment.

Mostly empty during winter? They’re mostly empty 12 months out of the year. Council should vote down any bike/walk master plan. It’s unnecessary.

Anonymous said...

Let the people of Kansas City vote on this issue and it will be soundly defeated.

Anonymous said...

For that amount of money the city could buy them all Peloton bikes and tell them to STFU.

Anonymous said...

NO MORE BIKE LANES and remove the ones on Armour Blvd!!!

Anonymous said...

Then you ponder when KC's High murder rate bleeds over to Cyclists getting shot off their bikes / electric bikes. Blending two of Our most stupid problems of the Metro. And we have a lot.

Anonymous said...

Oh, as soon as the Hoodie rats think bikes are worth more than 50 cents.

Why don't they name every street in the city fucktard street that way no one gets left out and the liberals have their piss mark on every street, and more important business can resume if the liberals are smart enough to get things done which I highly doubt.

What these Bike/Walk KC bums really want is a bank account ($400 Million) so they never have to do any meaningful and honest work for the rest of their lives.

Anonymous said...

Thank you.

It's $450 million dollars. Anyone with any clout in the finance industry would laugh at this proposal. A few might say well if you can pull this scam off on the city I will personally shake your hand and buy you a $48 shot of scotch.

This money would be better spent on fixing the sewers to lower our water bills.

According to this website -

https://splinternews.com/heres-how-many-transgender-people-live-in-your-state-1793860300

0.51% of people in Missouri identify as Transgender. Considering the tsunami of news on a daily basis about the epidemic of murders against Transgenders (In actuality 56 over the last 2 years.) there may not be a causation, but certainly a suspicious correlation between the cacophony of irritating, incessant whining from "Bikxe path advocates" and "Transgender" advocates. How many people are actually riding bikxes at any given time - even in nice weather on a per capita basis, here in Kansas City and are they people who identify as Transgender? Don't you think, that it is possible - that those people you see in those skin tight, "grape smugglers" are not just bikexers but "fluid" as hell? I'm cool with it, but let's look for a solution! :)

There might be some fire in that smoke. Are all the folks, insisting that we spend a Croeus amount of money on bike paths the same folks who insist that we disproportionately concentrate on Transgender issues to the detriment of the majority population?

If elected officials are to be good stewards of tax payer cash, then why not just build bike paths for Trannies in the inner city? Jobs created in a project that will draw bikers/Trannies to an area in need of financial support, which will in turn "gentrify" the area with people who all vote Democrat and will get along just great!

Happy Trannies biking down the Paseo right past the MLK signs, stopping in at Paul's Liquor (Great bargains there.) for some for some "Cakebread Reserve" and Skittles. This could happen if only our politicians would address and coalesce the needs of the community with geographical, economical and societal objectives that would save money in the short and long term.

I can see a Mayor Pete campaign headquarters right there (Maybe 56th and Olive?) in the beating heart of a new coalition of Transgender activists and intrepid Freedom Incorporated SJWs marching for justice and peace hand in hand down newly created bike paths, that provided jobs, business' and opportunity for "Stakeholders" (Heh, heh) previously underserved by the white patriarchy.

It couldn't be any worse than what the morons at City Hall have in place.

Trumpers against bike plans?

You just convinced me.

in the opposite direction. If you dimwits are against it, must be a good idea.

Anonymous said...

^^^You're unable to analyze the proposal on your own, and you call other people dimwits? Typical leftist.

Bravon Maruska said...

To hell with the bike lanes. Fix the failing infrastructure like streets, sewers, sidewalks and ADA compliant curbs at the sidewalks.
Most of all put the Paseo street signs back up.
Like many have said the bike lanes are mostly empty 12 months out of the year.
This is nothing more than a scam being promoted by Bike/WalkKC.

Stop spreading twisted misinformation. Shame on you. I hope your readers are better critical thinkers.

Bike lanes are very important to people wanting to move and live in KC.
As we see KC border wars where the city gives big huge gigantic tax money breaks to corporations to move to KC- keep in mind they will only stay here because of bike lanes.
This is a proven fact!
Other proven facts:

1. Lamar Jackson will lead the Ravens to victory yesterday.
2. The KC Star wont do a big story after a guy is dead on his wrong doings. (Don’t read today’s front page)
3. Drone sightings are proof of aliens
4. Former Star employees don’t do blogs in “reporting-style” cause they are still trying to prove relevance.
5. Trump doesn’t get foreign strategy. (Despite getting the people of Iran to hate their own leaders)
6. Trusting Pelosi and Adam is like taking a complete bottle of Ex-Lax and trusting your first farts.

Does anybody know what $400,000,000 exactly buys for these bike people? I’m serious, I need a break down of what that money is going to be spent on, every penny’s worth.

A Riverside counter top operation called Premier Surfaces was shut down Friday, with 175 people losing their jobs.

And no granite counter tops for you!

It's been proven time and again that if you build bike lanes people will use them over time.

But you guys are so hung up on INSTANT RESULTS that I guess you can't see that.

So yeah, leave everything as it is, never change.

I want a LGBT lane to swoosh around in.

Armour Road-NKC, used to be 4-lane and was always busy. Now we have new bike lanes and it's not navigateable. They didn't just do this with paint, no-they did it with new curbs. So when they figure out it was a mistake they'd have to take the curbs out. Idiots!

It'll all be better as soon as somebody invents Thermal Spandex, fellas!

Sure let’s spend hundreds of millions of dollars that benefits less than one percent of the population and make the 99% of the population suffer for it, great plan, this works out just perfect for the way the city runs itself, like shit.

Super Dave said...

Once upon a time cities did what was good and needed for the majority of its residents and didn't waste money on silly liitle minority projects that serve less than 1% of the people. A spending of taxpayers money for a project of this nature should be decided by the taxpayers not Mayors or spineless Council Members taking care of their homies. Denying this frivolous spending of money isn't showing hate to bike riders it's showing that some people still have a small amount of common sense left in them.

The cyclists are so bummed today. They cant roll up on a sports bar in a group of 4 during the Chiefs game. Make a grand entrance in their little outfits. Ordering their cheap PBRs and tipping 5% because you are lucky they come in.

Bicycles are for children and fags.

I rode my bike to work yesterday and this morning. It was tough going, but the streets I ride were pretty clear. The only problems I had were the motorists trying to kill me, but that happens daily, no matter the weather. Sorry, a bicycle is my only means of transportation and I ride almost daily. I notice it's always the fatties that get the most bent out of shape, maybe because of their shape?

Why do these bicycle scammers try to include "pedestrians" in their special interest scam group? Bikes are a DANGER to pedestrians..esp some of the rude assholes you see biking downtown.

If living in KC --contact your councilperson to vote against this scam!

12:08 just because you choose to do what you do does not mean the whole world has to cater to your obsession or mental retardation. You have a desire to flirt with death and appear to be wanting someone else to do to you what you lack the ability to do and that is kill yourself. No it isn't safe to be out there on a bike today but you sure didn't stop to think about that at all and if you had slide under a car the local media would have been screaming at how you got ran over by a car. Call a Uber you dumbass.

WAIT!

A member of Bike/"Walk" KC just put snow plow blade on his Schwinn and cleared my street!

ALL IS FORGIVEN!

SORRY, MY BAD!
It was a seven year old on a Big Wheel with a Snow Shovel, still snowed in.

In reality, $400 million isn't a lot of money for infrastructure. Kansas City is a city of 320 square miles. Updating the roads would be a $4 billion tab. The $400 million would be part and parcel of the "fix the roads" initiatives. The hype isn't good one way or another. The overall infrastructure isn't maintained and isn't going to be maintained. If you update the road the better option is to update the entire infrastructure associated with the road including water and sewer and gas and telecom and the infrastructure associated with bikes and pedestrians.

Asking taxpayers to expend hundreds of millions of dollars for bike lanes is like asking tax payers to pay for wider sidewalks for jugglers. It's a hobby for some of us and an actual mode of transportation for VERY few.
