TKC MUST READ!!! JACKSON COUNTY UPDATE REVEALS THOUSANDS OF PROPERTY TAX APPEALS STILL PENDING!!!

We're not going to do a lot of commentary on this one, only one local news station shared a report that tried to clean up the bureaucratic disarray but the direct message from the Courthouse provides the most complete info on the sitch:

Board of Equalization Status Update

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In an effort to help provide an accurate and current status report on appeals to the Board of Equalization (BOE), the Assessment Department last month offered to assign staff to assist the BOE in entering any unprocessed appeal applications submitted by mail, in-person or email.

Following review of an email account managed by BOE staff, the Assessment Department found approximately 8,600 “unread” emails. The Assessment Department immediately assigned staff to review those emails for any unresolved BOE appeals. A review by the Assessment Department determined that approximately 3,800 unresolved BOE appeals were contained in those emails.

The Assessment Department is diligently working to make contact with those appellants and ensure that those BOE appeals are properly processed.

There were 30,000 appeals to start. This has been one of the worst disasters the county has ever seen and there's no help coming. If you want to hold on to your house, you have to make a fuss and get in front of the B.O.E. anything less and you just become part of an avalanche of paper work.

Everybody wins here.

County has more money.

Schools get more money.

Property owners scoop up land for cheap. Only the low income home owners are on the losing side. Sad.

It's one of the WORST DISASTERS IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD

^^^ not really. Tax base over all declines. When people move away.

Hopefully all the blacks get forced out of kc, but I bet the city finds a way to pay all their taxes for them..... just like everything else they get for free.

What's the rush? Statistically, most...like vast majority...of appeals will be denied.

This is premeditated failure on the county's part. The city and county are broke and are colluding together on this failure to get more money. The county will reject any appeal as they do not want to lose this windfall.
Since the pre-K tax was defeated KCMO needs more money and they do not want to risk asking the voters to vote for more. The county has needed more money for years.

Should be referred to as "The Board of Fertilization" for all the bull shit they spread around. Take a real stand to fix the problem!
