Should Overland Park Mandate Homeowner Sidewalk Snow Shoveling???

Posted just because it might snow again and it's kind of interesting to realize that KCMO is actually more strict about this neighborhood rule than JoCo. We've linked this before but here's the latest report:

Overland Park leaders considering changing snowy sidewalk enforcement

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The snow isn't going to shovel itself. That's why Overland Park's Public Works Committee is looking into the possibility of a snow shoveling enforcement ordinance. "We have in good faith looked at this every few years because there are cities north of here that have more enforcement mechanisms," Councilman Jim Kite said.

  1. No matter where you live you should be required by law to clean off your sidewalks in front of your house. Prairie Village has that law and it works over there. Plus they do enforce it.

  2. ^^^ kc has that law too, but they refuse to enforce it because the koloreds don’t clear their sidewalks and it would be racist to write tickets on them.

  4. Lets remove the sidewalks completely in residential neighborhoods then shoveling is no longer an issue.
